If Summoner is to be reworked, please make Arcanist a viable damage dealer.

I don't think Summoner will see any major overhaul but I'm going to throw this out anyway. If Summoner is to be reworked into something that functions unlike it does now, Square, please know that there are some of us that like the job due to its Arcanist base. Please consider making Arcanist a viable damage dealer. There are people that like playing a dot class. Please do not forget about us.

I agree with the general gist of SMN needing more damage or be more viable. I do however wonder if it's an imperative to start a thread every time to post an opinion.

Summoner's damage is fine since they can kill anything 1v1. It's high end raiding where the Summoner falls off in damage. Summoners damage starts off high then it steadily declines over the course of the fight. The problem with buffing it for PvE is they will be super op in PvP.

Agreed, I will use better judgement in the future. I never wanted to give the impression of whether Smn is viable or not, but that if there was a major change to the job, so much so that it function nothing like it does now, that Square consider making Arcanist a first class job. Some of us like playing a dot class. And yes, yes, yes I know about Arcanist and Scholar.

Are you asking to buff Scholars that can provide a ton of damage in T13 right now? Because buffing Arcanist means buffing both Summoners and Scholars.

You can rework their skills (give SCH other offensive dots)
You can up the potency of Fester
You can up the damage of your pet
You can make the pet not a complete retard
...

SMN damage is fine, SMN sustain is not.

Any designer who worries about PvP balance in a PvE game should seek a new job, especially when they already adjust skills in PvP only.

No, I'm just asking that Square remember the people that like playing Smn as a dot/pet job. There's a group of people that want Summoner to return to its traditional roots (the Summon is the focus). If Square were ever to oblige them, I just want them to work whatever magic is necessitated to keep a dot/pet play style viable. "Magic" meaning "not affecting Sch".

SE was saying that making the Summon the main focus of dps for SMN would be too hard for a lot of players too handle and they want the game to be more casual friendly. I honestly don't care to micro manage like that during a fight, but for some people it can be really hard. Mind you I'm not calling them dumb or something it just that some people minds don't work that way.

Add fester to ACN, buff pet potency.
Change pet crit buff to a mana refresh.
