for starters i didn't even take a single point in damage. (well, i probably should have. but that's not the issue.) second, the Stoneskin was full. no damage was taken prior. third, Stoneskin had 20minutes left on it. fourth, i can null an auto-attack AND that AoE and still have more Stoneskin left. i've tested this. so how does one AoE that never damaged me break through Stoneskin? hm hm?

you can't see the duration, but i checked and Protect had 20minutes left. they were both applied at the same time. also i DO have fly-text enabled. while i most likely should have taken damage from that attack, the damage simply wasn't displayed. but again... that attack alone isn't enough to break Stoneskin. even a critical wouldn't break it... i've tested it.

I don't believe it was the AoE that removed stoneskin. The turtle died just as the cast finished. The AoE animation would have stilled displayed (since animations act independently of actual effect, ask any PLD or WHM about HG or Bene for a lovely conversation about this phenomenon). Most likely your stoneskin was depleted due to a crit auto-attack that occurred right after the AoE was finished casting, but before the enemy died. Not all auto-attack animations show because of an animation heirarchy this game uses. It always prioritizes skill animations over auto-attacks to make things look smoother and more natural, but auto-attack damage can and will still be dealt (by you or the enemy).

You most likely got hit by two auto-attacks; one just before it started charging the AoE, and one just before it died.

i understand how the animations work. my main is WHM and it pisses me off that it takes like a full second or so for it to work. Benediction i mean. IMO, Benediction and Cure III are the least useful spells a WHM has. i literally use EVERY spell, but those two. they are slotted, but like almost never get used. there have actually been times when i have seen the HP's restored on the tank AFTER they died. other times it just gets used on myself.

IN ANY CASE, i was not even damaged. no damage was displayed what-so-ever. i did not get hit with an auto-attack before the AoE... and certainly not after it either. you can see on the turtle i DO have fly-text enabled. i do not know the options for it, but it is all enabled. Stoneskin should NOT have been broken.

but basically what happened is this... the enemy ran up to me after attacking it. before getting in range for an auto-attack it used a circle AoE. the enemy died at the exact moment the AoE finished. while it is possible i should have taken damage from it. there simply was not damage taken. there was no damage counter displayed. however, despite that, Stoneskin was still broken.

How dare you say Cure III is worthless! :B

For example in every Primal encounter, and everywhere else where the group stacks, Cure III is pure gold.
I always smile down to the other WHMs medica while my cure III hammers the grp for 3000+ crits.
This is for stacked groups of course.

OFF TOPIC :

well, i never said it was worthless. just not very useful. HOWEVER, i also don't play end-game content like extreme primal or coil anymore. but i do know it is useful in there. i used to play those original three EX primal things. and had the same opinion as you. would laugh at their "Medica I" while my Cure III alone was almost always enough. but even then, two "Medica I" spells is also enough. which is less MP consumed per healer. if that is not enough, communicate with the WHM and take turns using Cure III. which will help conserve MP in the long run. or two Medica II spells and just let the rest of their HP regen over time. dodge people! lol :P anyhow, it is still good when paired with a SCH, or an Overcure proc.

as for today? well it does save a little bit of time healing people after a big fall in them dungeons. but only good when people actually want to stack for the heal. is hard to judge the distance. and it usually passes someone over. so i just usually pop a "Medica I", a "Cure I" on the tank, and let the others recover on their own.

as for benediction? well i am not a very good gamer at all... in any game :/ so stance dancing is difficult for me. you most likely won't see me throwing out any Holy spells during a large pull. but despite my lack of skill, that is really the best situation to use Benediction. other then that, it is not a very reliable spell. not reliable = not very useful.

EDIT : actually... i do recall Cure III being quite useful at that one guy in Syrcus Tower. the one guy with the spinning disc on the ground. is good for healing melee that up there so close. but i always try to put stoneskin on them anyhow. with that they should be good and easy to heal.

IN ANY CASE, back on topic here.... i don't know if i have been able to explain the issue correctly. and can only hope people will understand. i have no clue why Facebook removed the video.



but i would like to add another example where the game is just simply broken.

now this has only happened to me twice. so something specific may have been causing it. maybe not a broken game, maybe just a user generated glitch. anyhow, here goes...

in a dungeon and we wipe. the healer runs ahead to our previous location and is the first to arrive. the healer is seen by a mob and kites around it till the tank arrives. now the healer has not used any action, so the healer has not yet actually engaged the mob. meaning the ONLY enmity the healer has with this mob is simply from being seen.

HOWEVER, when i go up to one of the enemies and attack it it doesn't want to stop chasing the healer. still yet the healer has not used any actions or engaged the mob, or any one enemy in the mob. the enemy targets me but is still chasing healer. i get a full combo in... still chasing the healer.

this not lag of any kind. it is the game being funky.

There is no indication that you get hit if the damage is blocked by stoneskin. From what I could tell in the video, you were just barely in the tortoise's auto-attack range when it started casting the AoE. It is possible that two auto-attacks can deal exactly enough damage to break stoneskin, without any extra damage.
