Time to change coke, lime sulphur, peacock ore, etc. recipes yet?

Currently on my server Battlecraft Demimateria I costs about 3-4k, while Fieldcraft Demimateria I costs about 7-8k.

However, Coke and Lime Sulphur are more like 9-10k. To get a Master Book I for ARM or BSM, you are going to spend something like 400-500k on the Coke alone to get the first tier of Master Book I (and that's assuming you HQ every single one of the 5 turn ins... lol yeah right), while to get the Master Book Demi, it's more like 70k.

For Master Book II, it's going to be about 120k, as Fieldcraft Demimateria III are about 40k on my server presently.

Demimateria is way more available/accessible than Coke, etc. and it shows.

So, in order, for BSM or ARM, the books cost:

I: 500k
Demi: 70k
II: 120k

!?!?!?!?!?!

SERIOUSLY, ISN'T IT ABOUT TIME THAT WE ONLY HAD TO USE COKE x1 IN A RECIPE INSTEAD OF COKE x9!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?

The x9 was there to balance stuff for the tomestones of PHILOSOPHY cycle. We're so far beyond that it's ridiculous. Can we please please please PLEASE have a look at this?

Edit: To make this even crazier, Emery is worth like 800 gil on my server. Seriously? Emery is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more available than Coke!?!?!?!?!?

Also, consider Oaknot prices for a moment:

Coke: 1 oaknot
Emery: 7 oaknot
Ehcalt Sealant: 8 oaknots

Sealant is like 300-400k on my server, and yet it costs more oaknots to get enough Coke for ANY recipe (9 oaknots for 9 cokes) than it takes to get Sealant, which is a theoretically more desirable item.

What on earth? Like, seriously. COKE AND SUCH SHOULD NOT TAKE NINE OF THEM TO MAKE ANYTHING.

STOP MAKING COKE SO BLOODY EXPENSIVE BY FORCING PEOPLE TO NEED NINE TIMES THE REASONABLE AMOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!

Alternatively, I'd like the tomestone mats to become gatherable (or craftable?) after a time. I mean, peacock ore just sounds like something I should be able to mine up.

This. I have my ARM Master II book because it was (relatively) easy to get the turn-in items. I still haven't gotten Master I because of all the bloody Coke for those darksteel ingots :)

I would never have gotten my BSM Master I if not for the fact that I could buy 2 Coke for every 1 Ixali Oaknot.

The recipes shouldn't change (I say this as a BSM/ARM primary crafter), but the conversion rates for acquiring them should. At the GC Quartermaster, the exchange rate should be upped from 1500 for 1 to 1500 for 10. The exchange rate from Ixali Oaknots should increase from 2 to 10. When dropped in dungeons, it should be in a stack of 10. This is to better reflect how much Coke is actually needed in a recipe.

In an ironic twist, Cooking Sherry, which does drop in sets of 10, is only needed in quantities of 1 for the craft required to get CUL Master I. Which seems silly, I mean, that it would drop in a stack of 10. It's almost as if the crafting mats got balanced on two different fronts, causing the balance to tip too far to the other side.

This way, Coke will flood the market, causing the price to plummet and make 9x Coke negligible rather than frustrating.

Nine is really excessive, should only need 1 or drop in multiple quantities the way cooking sherry does.

Not a really wise move to do that, since the new artisan/forager's gear/offtools will require loads of ehctal sealant which cost 8 Ixali oaknots. And according to my personal calculation, the time for players to gather from Ixali dailies enough to make all of them without making a failure is about almost 3 months. But of course you could also buy the sealant from mb, assuming you're rich or they're somehow super cheap on your server. ^^;

Back to topic, you could also make use of grand companies to easily purchase your crafting mats from. Many stuff can be turned in for seals, even the crafted ones if you can learn which would be easiest for you to do according to your crafting preferences. Right now, the rate of gc seal's turn-ins are quite fast for me. :)

The recipe shouldn't change but higher level crafters (not low level ones) should have more ways to obtain it. Requiring 9 of it is called a gate which forces you to do supply and provision and or ixali.

For me, all of my GC seals pour directly into ventures, so I usually have almost nothing left over unless I grind specific dungeons over and over.

As for the sealant, I am nowhere near that skill level anyway, so I can't say that it bothers me right now. But my guess is that, like the other crafting material, they'll lower the cost of sealant in time.

Hmmm...

I'm actually having quite over-abundant of venture coins. Daily beast tribes on higher rank will net you 6 coins and if you do daily treasure hunts solo like bearskin or below, sometimes it gives you extra 20 coins. This forces me to do quick ventures as much as I can daily since it keep building fast over and over. So I kinda rarely buy venture coins with GC seals

I used to not bother with finished beast tribes. But... with heavy demand on sealant, it drives me to do the Ixali dailies again. And unfortunately, it also can't let me to use oaknots to buy craft mats due to quite hefty exchange needed for sealants. ^^;

I would rather just see them become more available from the suppliers.
Like, make the Ixali give three per oaknot at least.
Then I wouldn't be forced to spend 4 oaknots and have one mat left over.
Lower the GC supplier cost, too.
