Archer becoming the new BLM? (Bots)

Today in Mor Dhona, I noticed a group of carbon-copy Archer Lalafell standing around, signing up for duty together, disappearing and reappearing shortly thereafter. They're all wearing the same things, a Giantsgall Longbow and Weathered/Ironworks stuff, the only exception being their Explorer's Breeches.
They're not enlisted in a FC and not even in a Grand Company. They're Archers, not Bards. Their names are all pretty default-looking Lalafell names.

They have always been popular, especially during launch for claiming mobs that dropped mats for crafting.

In other news, there's currently a group of spiritbonding BLM bots at the Mark of the Scholar in Mor Dhona.

Botting is disgustingly rampant in this game, and for a P2P title I really don't think SE are doing anything near an adequate job of combatting it.
