As the title reads why is it that so many demi materias are required for synths? most of them require at least 10 of one sort, the rate at which they can be obtained doesn't help justify this either. The cost and time to gather these materials is far greater than any of the other materials in most of these synths. I can spend seals or swing my pickaxe and for all other mats except these...

you say this, but if you get into desynthing everything you get that you're able to, you end up with more of these than you could possible ever need.

After desynthing over 200 different items for fieldcraft demimateria I have a grand total of 12. Not a particularly great conversion rate.

Battle isn't really an issue, anything you'd actually want all uses fieldcraft which at least for me is extremely difficult to obtain. It's to the point that it's locked me out of content because my crafting and gather gear is two sets behind now and I can't afford to purchase the gear premade.

I currently have bsm 72 and 70 gsm desynth, i have found that gear lv 34 and above has the highest conversion rate. At 41 you have a chance for 2 x fieldcraft
I sit on the mb and purchase all tools going for 1-1500 gil and just desynth away
Funny thing yesterday i did around 40 desynth yesterday and got 0 fieldcraft, switched main job to bsm and got 8 from 5 XD

I would generally say i get 1/5 but this goes up and down got to love RNG
