Cut Scenes. . .no audio?

Hello, I am new to the game. Loving it so far. . .overwhelming for sure, but loving it.

I have just started out playing a new Archer and was curious about the quest givers and their interaction with me.

Normally, when they give me a quest a bubble pops up and you read the text and go on.

Every once and a while however, there will be a cut scene and under normal circumstances (I have played a ton of MMO's) when that happens the NPC quest givers actually talks. . .there is audio, along with the pop up bubbles. Not this game?

There is no voice talent in this game?

I checked my settings in the audio area and I set the cut scenes for English (I'm in NA)? So why is there no audio for the cut scenes I have seen so far?

Is it because I'm in the intro areas or is there something I'm missing?

Only some of the Main Story Quests have voice over, its rather sporadic when it does voice too... ie reading, reading, reading <loading> voice <loading> reading in a single CS. its a bit strange, but you'll get use to it. Many players have asked about the oddity of when and how the voice acting does or doesn't show up and why its not consistent to the MSQ at least.

Okay Asheilin, thank you for the info. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a part of the gaming experience.

I really wish they'd start adding more voice acting, updating the cut-scenes until at least all the main scenario ones are voiced (and getting the class/job quest cut-scenes as well would be nice). I don't think they're doing that, though. I play multiple alts, and I haven't noticed any more voice-acting on recent ones than I saw on my first character when Realm Reborn was first released. (Admittedly, a few scenes could have been changed and I might not have noticed if it was a long time apart between when I saw that scene on one character and another.)

The issue with voice acting is that with text they actually use your characters name. While with voicing this would have to be "generic PC name". Also some are intentionaly not voice acted(Hildibrand).

do what other games do then, use a proper title. ie Adventurer would fit in 80% of cutscenes in place of our name; keep our name in text, but spoken would be adventurer. Friend/companion could also be used in most. between the three, I doubt there are many cutscenes that would be forced to just skip it altogether where it would be like "Thank you for getting here so promptly, (name)." and you just would hear the first.
