Companion hotbar, please add?

I have had my rank 10 healer companion for quite some time. I seldom put it it healer stance though and position my first attack and where I end up face the mob after carefully, when it is in free stance. Companions are fairly dumb.
For example: a healer companion is always by your side.... That is burdensome especially when it is always in monsters direct line of attack. Is it too much of a strain to add a companion hotbar like summoners and scholars have for their egi's? I feel that it would make companions way more useful.
Maybe others feel the same about this? I think a companion hot bar for, at least, setting their placement on the field while in a battle would help immensely!
