Benediction..loved it..if your team was dieing you could run benediction and take all the aggro and they would get fully healed up and run for their lives...You had a very high chance of taking the bullet so they could escape but, they would run and pat you on the back and say..good luck with this one.. we are going this way. Its a moment...and something I missed as a whm..saving your party from certain death.... good stuff...
There is a lot that I miss from Final Fantasy XI, including the white mage class. While I would welcome an imitation or a copy of the signature white mage ability Benediction in Final Fantasy XIV, there are a lot of mechanics to consider before such a thing can be (should be) implemented.
Your chivalrous ambitions are admirable. But remember that a conjurer, by every measure, is not a white mage. Maybe in the future, when a white mage role is defined, you and I will realize an ability along the same vein as Benediction. For now, however, it just seems like a grandiose attempt to recapture the past.
How often in FFXIV do you find your team dying?
Most mobs I've encountered in the game so far are either complete push overs or capable of two/three-shotting you.
Behests provide zero challenge at the moment, and there seems to be far too big a difference between stars in terms of Guildleve difficulty.
Playing solo, most of the Rank 40 leves are too easy at two stars, and impossible at three stars.
Until there are more balanced mobs/battles, main healers seem pretty unnecessary...
Yeah I think your right...Alot of us have those grandiose of the past. (nice word choice btw had to look it up :) ) A really improved Final Fantasy Online from their first addition is what most of us hoped for or at least classes they have had since final fantasy I. Those moments from the past where important to players then and something that is missing in the new one for others to enjoy..Hence why the first one sold units and they are fighting right now. You build those moments through design..just alot of poor design choices in my professional opinion and they are at least finally looking at what people want and putting tons of effort into it. Instead of making a game to be different than WOW for the sake of being different..Bad Idea...Dont take away moments or expectations when you dont have to, let others enjoy them and have those same experiences...Its a spell it can be put into any database and balanced from the information gained from the last IP. Maybe this one was on the bottom of the rack and most people didnt use it...But their track record of using data from XI or any of their past titles to help build XIV is slim at best (pretty world tho got that part right) ..but maybe its in the future already... just have to see like you said the whm / blm and maybe some others return..we can only dream and put our wish lists on the boards. Maybe they will read it and think about it...have to see ! can't wait to find out...Great post tho good thoughts.
Yes I totally agree about the balance..I used to be scared to death to walk around by myself..I kept to the paths when alone..now..there is pockets of bad guys..not a world of bad guys..its not mixed enough. Oh LOL btw we die alot trying to get higher stars...sometimes it just a few hits less to win the big battle..saving your tanks for a list min win..good stuff. Outside of that...LOL never...
