Is there still a thing going on where you can lose your housing if you don't use it?

Awhile back I remember a thread telling us that if you bought an estate hall, constructed a house, then didn't use it for awhile, you could have it taken from you to free up space.

Is this still going on? My sub expires tomorrow and I'm worried all my hard work to buy a plot of land will just get erased if I'm gone for a bit because I don't want to subscribe back to back months.

I want to know, too. It would kinda suck losing everything if I go away for a bit. I don't play much but I leave my sub up so I don't lose this stuff.

Sadly, as far as I am aware that is still in effect. I do remember there was a post from the Community team mentioning something about easing it but I don't recall if it was just mentioning they would look into it or if it was implemented.


Edit- A brief look into the housing section of the forum disproves that. The system to boot people from home ownership for inactivity is not implemented yet.

it's a grim necessity in order to avoid the "SWG" problem.
In SWG, people bought up territory and then never attended it, leading to ghost towns on most of the planets.

Really would love for this to be implemented, though I don't think it'd help the desolation neighborhoods are currently in. Bunch of empty houses all day around me.

They might as well swap to instanced housing instead. I mean, with the current neighborhoods, only 2% of people have access to houses, and only a very small amount of that percentage actually USES them. So why not just make houses instanced so everyone can have one? This system isn't worth the accessibility sacrifices it makes for the sake of having a neighbor.

It is not implemented, I know this because there is an FC in my ward that purchased a plot and never built anything on it, and its been that way for months.

People set themselves as owner using alts to buy property as well, which is stupid. I still think FFXIV should only allow you to be the owner of one house and not multiple.
