Due to monitor change I have had to switch to a lower resolution, so now my map fills the screen and I can't reach the resize gadget to change it.
Anyone know of a way to fix this problem as I have tried all the UI stuff to no avail.

The values are stored in the ADDON.DAT file. Four values are stored for it, looks like it may be the X/Y coordinates for a place holder, and then the H/V screen size of the map. Not entirely sure on that... but they all change when the map is resized. I'm on a 1920/1080 resolution, so not sure if these values will be good for you or not, but I keep my map restricted to the upper-left corner of my screen, and it's not too big either, so hopefully it may get it reduced to a size where you can grab the corner and set it like you want it again.
To be on the safe side, log out of the game. This file gets updated regularly for different things. Best to make sure it doesn't get updated from a copy in memory while you are trying to "fix" it.
Open My Computer and navigate to this similar path:
C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn\FFXIV_CHR004000174A4329BB
Note that this is the folder that stores all your character's data. That last folder will have a random hex number that was generated during character creation. Each character will have it's own unique folder, so if you have multiple characters, you will need to repeat it for each of them.
Make a backup copy of the ADDON.DAT file, just in case you need to restore it (right-click, copy, then paste it in another folder for safe keeping). Now, open it in any text editor (notepad, textpad, etc.). About 50 or so lines down, you will see this header:
n:AreaMap_a
It will be followed by a series of values that all change when the map gets resized. Edit this section so it looks like this:
This should basically make it about a 540 x 440 sized window, nested in the upper left of your screen, just a few pixels out from the corner. Hopefully now you will be able to grab that lower right corner and resize it how you really want it next time you log in.Code:n:AreaMap_a

Thank you ever so much, it worked a treat and I can now resize to my hearts content, I think I will keep it smallish from now on though :)
