DRK being compared to past FF games.

Hi all \o just making a thread about people complaining about Dark Knight being a Tank class and not a DPS.

One of their reason which I don't get is that they comparing the DRK to it's appearance in past FF games and say it was a DPS back then or because it was in those games. Which I find to be a illogical reason due to the fact that this is a MMO and the prevouise games was not a MMO in fact the idea of the Tank,DPS, Healing roles wasn't even thought of back then since SE have no released a MMO back then so comparing DRK back then is illogical.

And just because it has a Great Sword doesn't mean it should be a DPS class. Yeah the Great Sword general dose alot of damage but it would be slow.

But all in all I say it's a lot of fuss of just a Role.

So what bothers you about it and do you agree with what I say?

in the end if you want to play DRK, you are going to play DRK. A lot of people in XI that played NIN probably didn't want to tank, but they ended up doing it because thats the role it filled.

DRK will be awesome, I have a good feeling!!!!

It's more about how a class that generally kills itself to kill the enemy makes sense as a tank. That being said I have resigned myself to the fact that DRK is going to be a tank. Not happy, just understand why they chose to do it that way.

The problem for me is that visually what is the appeal of a Gladiator after they add Dark knight?

Similar to this, I don't understand why people are upset that machinist/gunner/musketeer/whatever they choose to call it might be a healer.

I mean, c'mon. Are people really going to say any class they think is cool can only ever be a DPS? Tanks and healers can't have nice things? x.x

In a perfect world we'd break the holy trinity cycle in MMOs and let FF jobs to their thing without restriction, though we're far from that point so DRK being thrown into a tank role is not surprising. Cecil DRK was S&S user, and tanked(frontline for mages characters at that time in the game) for the group even with spamming 'Dark'. FFT DRKs can be S&S users, and had drain abilities. Leon could be pretty much fully customizable from what i recall of that game so hard to say on him (quick look of the wikia states he had high stam though). Hell even XI DRK had the ability to equip S&S, but probly for the sake of difference they gutted any defense DRK had to give PLD a higher standpoint.

This argument is still going on? Give it a rest, please.

People will complain about pretty much any class getting any role that they don't want to play.

What?! Now you're telling me DRK isn't going to be the new healer class?

What does this have to do with anything? One is dark one is light. One uses a sword and shield, the other a great sword. We can equip glamoured equipment on both classes and they have different abilities. If you meant Paladin instead of Gladiator.

If you were talking about Gladiator... So what? No one plays classes after level 30 anyway.
