Suggestion for ex-pack: sea travel.

I had played a few months on archeage, the game was OK i much prefer final fantasy.

BUT after playing AA i have come to miss 2 things how open and explore-able the AA world was, and the naval exploration.

Both i fell FF would greatly benefit from.
The open world is too much imo to ask as it would require a large rebuild of the current game world, BUT for the new zones its not too much out of the question.

the second thing was the naval exploration and swimming mechanics AA had both of these where great and added a LOT to the game.

I feel if FF added swimming and boats and sea travel it would give the game SO much more.

I hope to hear other peoples opinions on this matter and hopefully some input from the Dev team.

Something I read not so long after I started is that they had to choose between sky themed and sea themed for the expansion and they went with sky, I wouldn't expect anything sea related until another expansion.

It was stated That they had both Sky and Sea themes planned for expansions but they just chose to go with the Sky theme first.

Nice! hopefully the sea will open up, if its planned i am happy with that.

Ironically, by making it a future expansion... if the game isn't shackled by PS3 support they may be able to do things like your suggestions much more easily. (They already said they "had to keep the PS3 in mind", ie limit themselves, with heavensward ; ; )

I;d much rather have a Space themed expansion myself, nothign too sci-fi (yet) just to see the stars and dungeosn based on astrological motifs, buy hey maybe we'll see that in heavensward

So... kind of like FFXI then? Where 'sky' was the nickname for the floating island which was added in the first expansion, Rize of the Zilart and 'sea' was the nickname given to the weird and wonderful area in 'Chains of Promathia' where shark-type things would come up from below to give chase. Well, and tentacled UFOs... can't forget the UFOs...

That was my first thought too lmao, but i do remember comments about wanting to make some underwater dungeons or something (makes me think of Alzadaal Undersea Ruins from XI) i wish i could find the comments but it was ages ago, either way that probably won't be for like another year - 2 years i imagine.

Fly with close proximity over water and you've got your sea travel :p.

But yeh, in particular the ability to swim could add a nice touch. However, I don't think we'll see it any time soon.

They also said that they would drop PS3 support if it get too limiting in the future
