Changing jobs & macros

Probably the most annoying aspect of the game to me involves changing jobs and macros. Managing your abilities and gear with macros is slow and far from flawless. For example, since there is no command to clear all of your job abilities, simply setting abilities may cause conflicts as an ability that costs 3 points attempts to overwrite an ability that costs 1. Another problem is that automatically added abilities get placed in the first available slot rather than where you want it. And since you not only have to set abilities, but also gear, that requires at least 2 (slow) macros to change jobs. And then if the macros mess up, you have to go in and do it manually.

In short, I would prefer to see the system remember your abilities and gear from the last time you played the job. That way the user only need to equip the weapon/tool, and everything else reverts back to the last used setup. Then we can use (hopefully improved) macros to customize depending on how we intend to play: tanking vs. damage dealing, for instance.
