Weekend Bonuses
I have come up with an Idea for Square Enix to implement into FFXIV. It's not a new idea as other games do it, but I think it would liven up the game quite a lot, for very little effort in implementing the system. As some of you may currently know, this upcoming weekend is a Free-login weekend. Well to go along with free-login weekends, why not expand upon the idea into something much more attention-grabbing, and rewarding for veteran and current players?!
Here's my idea:
Every weekend Square Enix will choose from a predetermined list of bonuses given to players. These bonuses last only for the weekend and are useable by just about everyone. They would be applied as a buff, or just a static bonus through the system that can be turned on/off.
Some idea's that come to mind are:
"Increased experience gain for " x " class."
"Increased drop chance for Primal Mounts."
"Increased PvP exp or Wolf Marks for Frontlines."
"Increased PvP exp or Wolf Marks for Wolves Den."
"Increased Soldiery from Hunts."
"Increased Allied Seals from hunts."
"Increased Spirit Bond % (faster Spirit Bonding)."
"Increased Soldiery from Dungeons."
"Increased Soldiery/Allagan Materials for crafting from Coil."
These are just some ideas, that can be easily expanded upon, and you're welcome to throw in any idea's of your own! But how cool would this be? I think it would liven up the game quite a bit (not that it's dead or anything). But giving small incentives and being able to participate in fun things with an increased reward would bring the server communities closer, and get more people playing over the weekends!

They had something nifty in FFXI where every week a set of bonuses could be awarded (to everyone on the server) if all 11 Mog Tablets were discovered and turned in. People who found and turned in a Mog Tablet got a special EXP bonus consumable on top of the distinction of granting your server a bonus effect for the week. It was fun and nifty and it helped everyone out.

I would like this idea if they werent only for weekends. I always work on weekends :(

While I'm not opposed to the idea of giving players bonuses every once in a while. Doing it every weekend kind of gives the feeling of, "We don't have faith that our game is good enough on it's own so we need to entice you with extra bonuses to get you to play." And I feel like that doesn't apply to FFXIV.

I'd be up for something like what was done in ffxi, but if it was implemented it should be for the entire week and changes on the weekly reset. Making it only on the weekend would not be fair to those that work on those days, not everyone has a M-F schedule.

I like the feedback and do agree with you guys. It could be tweaked in whatever way. But to respond to Cutie_Mcsnuggles I agree with what you're saying, but content after a couple months gets pretty stale, you know? Throwing some cool incentives for doing content you've been plugging away at for months would just breath new life into the game after a while and make people actually want to keep doing the content I would think. Also, it doesn't even have to be raid-based. In my OP I suggested somethings like increased experience gains for certain classes, or make hunts more attractive than they currently are (Im on behemoth realm, pretty populated, and I see A ranks sitting up for hours untouched).
I personally think it'd be pretty cool in one form or another. I play this game a lot and from personal experience it gets a bit stale after a while and I see friends take off and go play other games until new content is released.

Not bad idea but imo it should not be on every weekend, as it could easily lead to point where players only play at weekends. 2 or 3 times in a month would be fine so it always would feel like nice little bonus event.
