Why did they make rogue's sneak attack unlock at level 22?

I mean, it doesn't really take that long to get there for the most part, but that just seems a bit high. It's a bare basic rogue ability that makes a rogue a rogue. I could see doing it at lvl 10 when you got hide, but why level 22? That just seems like it wasn't well thought out to me. The whole fun and point of a rogue is sneak attack.

The third part of LNC/DRG's main combo isn't fully unlocked until lvl 26, and don't get me started on how BLM's rotation changes vastly upon getting it to lvl 50~ I personally think its a fine. Yes, sneak attack is important for the class/job, but 22 isn't a very high lvl at all :P One step at a time grasshopper~ Imagine if the first thing LNC learned was jump instead of other key components of their job!

Honestly, Sneak Attack doesn't even seem worth it until you get Shadowstalker at Lv32, anyway. A 300 potency attack doesn't make up for the time you take slowly sneaking into position.

Actually you dont need to sneak from miles away, just try to get hangon how long it takes to actually gain Hide buff and distance on the mob you are going to use it. When you get it you can pop Hide just in time before said mob will aggro you(unless you are coming from behind)and instantly slap it on the face thanks to time it takes to actually gain said buff(as all have noticed you wont get slowed durning animation). It should look like "Gain Hide, SA, Lose Hide" in scrolling combat text in one go.

It's not only SA. How about mandatory cross class abilities people are forced to unlock ( lvl 26,34)

I think the whole job system isn't that well thought out. Let's hope it will be different in 3.0.

Sneak Attack is like... not at all a bread or butter ability for you.

You're thinking Trick Attack. THAT'S an ability you'll take home to meet your mom.

And MNK only gets dragonkick at lvl 50... get on with it.

As a level 50 NIN, Sneak Attack is not even on my bar. It's useful for early dungeons/solo'ing while you are leveling, but Trick Attack blows it completely out of the water. Speaking of water, Hide becomes useless due to the water-elemental Ninjutsu "Suiton" which allows for Trick/Sneak Attack to be used without Hide. So basically, both abilities mentioned previously are tossed completely aside in endgame for Suiton and Trick Attack, which are unlocked at level 50(I believe) and 45 respectfully.
