It's not a typo. Materiel is, along with MUCH of the text in the script, and old timey way of referring to "stuff."
It's even pronounced a little differently.
Well, again it's not actually the same word as "material." It's an out of date word that basically means "random things used for things."
Meanwhile material is "random things that compose things."
If it's confusing, that's why materiel has fallen out of use in modern English.
It's intended, materiel is used for equipment/supplies etc for military use (which GCs are).
Materiel refers to the equipments and supplies in the military or commercial supply-chain management.
