NIN Optimal Rotation Help

Okay so I had a lot of fun theory-crafting NIN's Optimal Single-Target Rotation (I'm 34 atm)... I'd love your input/thoughts:

Huton > Mutilate > Spinning Edge > Shadow Fang > 1-2-3 > Suiton > Trick Attack > Kassatsu (every other) > Raiton > 1-2-3 > Spinning Edge > Shadow Fang > Mutilate > Raiton > 1-2-3 > 1-2-3 > Repeat (replace init. DoTs with an extra 1-2-3)

Weave Buffs where able & Mug when buffed.

The long CD's cause the awkward mix-up in the latter-half of the rotation ~ Huton (70s), Trick (60s), Kassatsu (120s, hence "every other"), & Ninjitsu (20s except for Kassatsu use).

From a complete Theory-Perspective, does this appear optimal? The timing seems to fit neatly. DoT placement is a bit odd (may also be reversed?) but it seems best to get them ticking & then slot them in alternatively with the timing (to get the "every other" effect like MNK).

For reference:

Huton - AS Buff for 70s
Mutilate - DoT 30s
Edge/Fang - DoT Combo 18s
Suiton - enables stealth attacks
Trick - damage buff
Kassatsu - refresh critical Ninjitsu
Raiton - big hit
1-2-3 - ~Aeolian (damage) or ~Dancing (debuff)

The 1-2-3 combo option will depend on if the group has a WAR to apply the Slashing Debuff instead, otherwise it'll always end in Aeolian.

Actually, they should rotate back to tanks and healers for a while to help with queue times.

The rotation actually adds up because of how flexible it is and how it isn't as restrictive. I'm currently at 45, so I can't say that this may be the optimal, but it's the one I use personally. So first we're going to add in the skills that have a combo chain. Note that this is assuming that all recast timers are set to 2.5 seconds, and that it's against a single enemy.

Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Dancing Edge > Mutilate > Spinning Edge > Shadow Fang > Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Aeolian Edge > ...

You want to reapply Dancing Edge, Mutilate, and Shadow Fang whenever their timers get to about 8-ish seconds. Dancing Edge has a higher priority than the DoTs because the damage is further increased by the debuff. If all 3 are up, you do the Aeolian Edge skill combo till one of the buffs wear off. Weave in Mug, Juguate and buffs whenever they are available. Also you can alternate between Kiss of the Wasp and Kiss of the Viper whenever needed.

Now we weave in the mudras!

Huton (Jin-Chi-Ten) > Spinning Edge > Gust Slash > Dancing Edge > Mutilate > Spinning Edge > Shadow Fang > Spinning Edge > Suiton (Ten-Chi-Jin) > Sneak Attack/Trick Attack > Gust Slash > Aeolian Edge > ...

At this point, if both Huton is up and Sneak Attack/Trick Attack are on cooldown, you want to only use Raiton (Ten-Chi). Otherwise you are free to reapply Huton and Suiton whenever they come up. Otherwise, Raiton all the way! As for Doton (Ten-Jin-Chi), you can weave that in for the extra DoT buff it leaves on the floor like Shadowflare. However, Kassatu should only be used when you can throw up a second Raiton because of its high potency. But feel free to use Kassatu should you flub a mudra.

And that's all I have so far. I'll look into it more once I get to 50. :)

Seems about right.

Mutilate every other time before Shadow Fang application seems correct, even if it goes against what we do as Monks.

It's trippy how very different this Job turned out, I love it.

The only problem I see with mundras is with the recast, and 2 that will always be used (Huton and Suiton) that only leaves time for one other mundra before restarting the same cycle, and IMO that will almost always be Raiton. Sure you can Kassatsu for an extra mundra every 2 minutes, but in general I see most mundras being very situational and not of much use.

Even in an AOE situation, unless its a constant move the mob battle, almost always I would use Doton.

Well, for Raiton you use it once you used Fûton and Suiton, you also use that with Kassatsu.
For AoE you'll only use Doton, Kâton with Kassatsu and to finish the mobs ( if the mobs have low life there is no need for a Dôton ).
Hyouton and the Shuriken will always be useless. ( Except maybe to pull with the shuriken or to freeze someone in PvP to run away... )
