Model Curtana - Procrastination produces some wonderful work!

In my procrastination from studying (Landscape Architecture student) I took a side step and started working on a physical model of my character's main weapon!

I have access to laser cutters and 3D Printers here at the university but I'm not sure how I want to go about finishing this. I may make a 1:1 model or a smaller version keychain.

I thought I'd post an image of my progress so far and post updates as my little side project continues!

I finished working for the day so here is an update on my project!

I opted for a 1:1 scale model. Here is what I have so far:

There are some things I would change if I was to do it again, but it's looking pretty awesome so far!

I only have 2 of the 5 layers cut. I'll be doing the rest of them tomorrow morning.

Once this is fully done, I'm going to try making a keychain next!

Next is to wait for these to dry and glue them onto the base!

The next stage is to paint the sword which may take a while.
If I do another one of these, I'll be doing it in more layers and using thinner wood so more detail will show through.
I'd also paint them before assembling them next time.
