Destroying the Black Shroud, completely false?

Okay I've done some looking around and can't find any information on this so hopefully a dev can clarify this...

Some members of my linkshell have been doing all this talk how SE intends to level or completely destroy the Black Shroud in an event to rebuild it from scratch. I've asked for proof and all they say is "it was a long time ago" and fail to deliver. Now I recall information saying they were going to revamp the Black Shroud (Probably remove some of the copied areas and make it more unique.) but nothing of completely destroying the woods.

I've seen nothing but claims this was gonna happen (even on the forums here sometime back.) but nothing proving the development team confirmed this to actually happen. I for one love the Black Shroud as it is and some changes to open it up more is perfectly fine with me, but I'm sick of all these claims that they're gonna destroy it. So please, if a dev could, please answer this and put it to rest once and for all. Or someone please link me to actual proof they said this was gonna happen.

They said it a while ago.

The revamped world are focusing around 2-3 focal points per zone, which was said last week. I don't know if the shroud is going to get entirely destroyed, but I expect it to look nothing like it currently looks after redevelopment. To my knowledge all the zones are being redone, and it's possible that Limsa/Gridania could have some alterations also.

They never said it was going to be an event (it would be cool though if it was), Yoshida has only commented that it will be redesigned.

I kinda like it the way it is, but I'm not against opening up some parts. Just don't destroy it utterly. I agree though, a dev post, whether old or a brand new one, about this, to quell the theory-mongering would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly, all I've heard is info about a redesign. A redesign could very well mean they change the layout a little, swap some areas for wider open clearings. They could mean something as simple as replacing the vegetation with new plants, trees, decrease the amount of narrow passages, this kind of stuff. Meanwhile mostly all I've been hearing is people saying they're gonna burn the entire woods to the ground, they're gonna destroy it, Garleans will invade the woods and level the woods flat, all this. Yet in every case I've not seen a single shred of proof they're intending to do this. I'm well aware areas will undergo changes, in fact some already have, they've added more shrubbery and trees in Thanalan, moved the placement of some plants and trees in Gridania.

So again, please, give actual proof SE intends on completely redoing these areas instead of just word of mouth. Thank you.

The writing is on the wall for something bad to happen, from the looks of it the smaller of the two moons is going to mess things up.

I'm not sure if they completely said it'd be destroyed, but forgive me if I'm wrong, Gridania is the closest target near Garlemald yeah?

Also I thought this link from April had something to do with those rumors, but could very well just refer to the Imperial Invasion events : The Last Word - Storm over Gridania (04/27/11)

I think this refers to the fact the mysterious figure would show up at random camps spouting the end of the world stuff before the Garlean invasions, it's got nothing to do with revamping really. SE has been setting up info that the Seventh Umbral Era is about to begin very soon.
