Exploit: Fate System
I've found a way to exploit the Fate system such that you do not need to Level Sync in order to gain credit for participation.
The exploit works as thus:
Equip any buff or healing skill (class/job does not matter).
Approach a fate, but do not level sync.
Use the buffs (heals work best) on other players who are participating in the fate.
When the fate ends, you will receive rewards as usual based upon contribution even though you were not Level Synced.
It is possible to receive Bronze, Silver, or Gold by using this exploit.

This doesn't really seem like an exploit
1. You are only doing FATES which are well below your level, therefor the rewards will be lower than doing FATES which are your actual level range, making things slower.
2. You aren't doing any damage, therefor the FATE is finished later than if you had helped DPS, making things slower.
3. FATES give you contribution based on how much you heal, so you are still having to put in the work to get those contribution points just like anyone else. It's easier, yeah, but you're still doing SOMETHING to progress the FATE.
4. It's always been possible to toggle level sync off during FATES if you are about to die, letting you tank mobs and/or heal yourself at your actual level, then level sync back and continue DPSing when you are safe. A problem would come from being able to DPS without being level synced, but that's not possible.
5. You would only be able to do FATEs that are being done by at least one other person. I guess if you are chasing a person around from place to place getting credit for their DPS you could argue that it would be leeching, but on the other hand that person is getting a dedicated healer out of the deal so they could just AOE away.

I mostly agree with the points you bring up.
The main reason I am calling this an exploit is because you never level sync but gain full rewards with much less contribution and considerably less danger than if you level sync.
Remember, when you level sync, stats are capped to the level you sync to which in turn affects potency. A cure spell cast by a level 50 whm is much more powerful than a synced level 30 cure. Also if I avoid syncing below level 36 as a whm, I keep granite skin trait (18% vs 10%). In addition, because I'm never technically in combat, my mp and health regeneration never go down. I cast a spell, and immediately my mp goes back to full. I get hit by a monster in the fate because I gained aggro and my health goes right back to full.
Ultimately I just want this to be brought to the devs attention (if it isn't already) because I don't think I should be rewarded if I'm never in any actual danger. In order for DPS to contribute and gain rewards they have to level sync. It's not balanced that a healer can avoid it and still gain rewards. Now, I have not tested if it is possible to gain atma drops using this - but since I am able to gain full rewards otherwise, I don't see why not.
