How often do you see X job?

New to the game and really enjoying myself. Don't know why I didn't give this little gem of a game a closer look sooner.

Playing on Balmung. Community seems great. So many options to try as far as classes go. Did some dungeons and had a good experience with the other players. This game has potential to be my game for awhile I am thinking.

Anyway, did some checking on the web and didn't see any recent posts about which classes/jobs are less played vs. ones that are played frequently.

With the downtime, thought I would give you veterans something to chew on. I will head to the office and looking forward to some lively reading when I get home tonight.

Always curious about this subject in any mmo I play.

I almost never see summoners in dungeons or towns. Suppose with BLM being the other caster DPS with big numbers people just pick that (I assume). Also SMN is all DoTs which can be quite boring at times.

there's an oversupply of DPS classes and it's going to get MUCH worse when Ninja's released. In finding a static group to play with, Bards will have a place in a party no matter what, although individual skill speaks louder than any class choice.

Tanks are always in short supply and in most demand by the duty finder. WAR and PLD are both needed for 8-man contents and neither is preferred over another in 4-man contents.

Healers come in next. As with the tanks, WHM and SCH are both equally desired and neither is pref... you know the drill.

The game is really well balanced with no class getting any favourite treatment over another.

Rare that I don't see a certain job frankly. They are all rather well represented. You could look at the census data to see the actual stats.

In order from most common to least common DPS: BLM, BRD, DRG, MNK, SMN.

If I had to really give average and arbitrary numbers to it, I'd say that out of a pack of 10 DPS, 3 are BLM, 3 are BRD, 2 are DRG, 1 is MNK, and 1 is a SCH that was a SMN but couldn't get a party.

As others have mentioned, I'm going to assume that NIN will take top slot for a while.

Tanks, I probably see 3 PLD for every 1 WAR. Healers, I probably see 2 WHM for every 1 SCH.

Note - that's my observations on my server - and in the DF. Your mileage may vary.

Secondly, I would suggest just playing what you enjoy. But if you want fastest into dungeons through duty finder go tank (gladiator/paladin or marauder/Warrior) or healer
