Patch File Size
This is not a problem everyone will face, I know, but some of us play on limited bandwidth - myself because where I live I cannot get any kind of physical internet so I have to play with a Mobile WiFi 4G. I can visit parents and such for bigger patches but smaller ones I can do at home, so why is it that your patch notes contain craptonnes of spoilerific specific things about content but NOT A SINGLE technical detail about the patch itself? There must be more than just me wanting to know how big the patch is beforehand so we can plan on getting to a place where the internet isn't a limited pool of bandwidth on patch day for big ones.
So my questions are:
How big is patch 2.4?
and
Can you PLEASE add a patch file size to the notes in future for people like me?
-
not really possible, since the size will always depend on the last time the client was updated.

Surely a 'minimum file size' should be doable. If you are up to date. If you're not up to date and playing on a limited internet then you're going to want to get to somewhere with unlimited data anyway, but for those of us who have download limits (I KNOW I'm not the only one, I've seen people discussing their bandwidth and how much the game uses before) knowing how big the patch is individually would be a great help.
EDIT: I mean, I don't see why the patch size isn't listed already - it used to be done back in the FFXI days, and the same rule of 'depends when you last updated' applied then too. I kind of feel that the patch size NOT being listed is a step BACKWARD.

I have to agree with this. Knowing the minimum space needed for a new patch would be helpful. OP, I'd just assume you'll need to download off someone else's WiFi as this will be a very large content update.

I hope it is small enough that I'll be able to budget my bandwidth - I get 15gb a month, and I generally go through about 8gb, so in the ball-park of 6gb I could afford to update tomorrow, otherwise I'll have to wait until Wednesday before I'll be anywhere near an unlimited source of internet, or plan an unexpected journey.
Which is why I want some kind of official input before tomorrow, since knowing beforehand will make it easier for me. I'd prefer to be able to download it on the day, since me and some friends have planned a static (two of them want to level NIN asap since they are already all-50, and I have a tank I want to work on) to beat the inevitable flood of DPS in queues for the next few weeks.

Agreed with the minimum file size being displayed... i mean they do know. However you really dont need to be a psychic to realize that this will be much larger than an average update.

Id like to say with a new class, new EVERYTHING, more NPCS, new Dungeons/Raidsits gonna be at least 4GB

We sometimes do get a heads up on the patch file size sort of last minute. They probably don't include it with the maintenance notices because they don't have the live patch compiled until it's about to be implemented. In this case, they may not even have the final patch ready for distribution. They have given themselves extra time for implementation, likely expecting to run into some issues that would require tweaking. Depending on how extensive the last minute changes, it could mean either a recompiled patch or an additional patch file that would need to be applied right after with follow-up changes. So, they may not know themselves just how big it will be just yet.

Not sure why they don't mention the patch size ahead of time, but you can be 100% sure that all major patches are massive (such as 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and almost certainly 2.4). I think these usually clock in at around 2-4 GB.
