Ehcatl Sealant Grind
A lot of the new crafting and gathering gear appears to require a lot of Ehcatl Sealants. According to the patch notes you would need 81 of these Sealants to craft "one of everything." (Which includes all the new crafting armor pieces, artisan weapons, and any other recipes that use them.)
1 Ehcatl Sealant can be purchased for 8 Ixali Oaknots (patch notes)
81 Sealants would cost 648 Oaknots.
You can farm 6 Oaknots a day.
That's 108 days of farming the Ixali beast tribe to complete all of your crafter sets. (If you dont have any Oaknots saved up.) The best crafter gear being only obtainable by "Ixali Dailies" after 108 resets seems like a pretty harsh requirement.
Thoughts?

A little upset, because I can't even get oaknots yet. I only recently started playing, so I was trying to get caught up on the other beastmen quests as well.
Even if I do get caught up on Ixali so that I can get oaknots, if I want to get sealants, I'll need to give up on raising my other beastmen tribe reputations.
These should have come from something else.

The supra grind took only a little less than that. And you are getting more gear for this grind... Keeps us off the streets I guess :)

It's an open question weather the sealants are tradeable. If they are, some will opt to make some gil instead I guess.

Let's wait & see if there's new ways of obtaining Oaknots, how about it?
-
If there wasn't a new way, my only problem is that it's gated by dailies.. so you have to wait what, 200 days? to complete everything. I can understand them wanting people to specialize but I think it's a bit too much. Got me even more worried about the future, pretty sure like 99.9% there would be offhand supras at 2.5 just like how we were given artisan and then supra. If it's gated by dailies.. gg

The sealants will likely be something you can trade, meaning market boards. Afterall, they're not an item that you have to craft to directly obtain. As for requirements by time, it's not as bad as you might be thinking, due to how quickly you can finish the 6 quests per day. It seems like they're not against wanting us to specialize in specific crafts, with how Desynthesis works, so if this is (for now) another sort of specialization limitation, then 108 days isn't that surprising.

I wouldn't count on new ways to obtain oaknots, but I'd imagine you can sell the gear (Or do they expect everyone to have their BSM fully melded?). I hadn't considered this possibility at all, but I'm pretty happy that I couldn't decide what to spend my oaknots on and have been sitting on a stack and a half of them.
EDIT: Oh, I didn't even notice all of the ilvl 60 artisan's and forager's stuff (though forager seems to get an additional body piece that artisan doesn't get -- or accidentally left out of the list). I was thinking it was mostly offhand items. Seems like we'll definitely be able to buy/ sell this stuff, but it is annoying to not have all self-made items. I'm always embarrassed to wear someone else's gear if I could make it myself for some reason.

As long as it's tradeable, I'll be happy to sell em to peeps for a fee~
I've got 200 oakknots saved up, but I agree, that is quite a lot. Even if they just lowered the oakknots required to 6, you could get 1 a day and feel like you're making better progress.

It will be interesting to say the least, my body is ready!
