So Why assume removal of Classes?

Just wondering why so many people are jumping the Gun right now about Classes being removed from FF14?

There are other possible outcomes and reasons such as...

Yoshi-P mentioned back in 2.0 the plan for creating Advance Jobs that may require players to first obtain 2 certain Jobs first before they can unlock these Advance Jobs.

The Example used was Red Mage being a Advance Job that required Black Mage and White Mage. (Yoshi-P stated it still remains undetermined if Red Mage will be a Advance job so don't take this as evidence Red Mage will be a Advance Job)

However, this is only something he explained that could be a possible outcome for specific Unreleased Jobs and does not promise it will happen.

As of now we know nothing about why Dark Knight require no Class to obtain but a good amount of people are jumping the gun and assuming class system will be removed without any solid statement from the development team.

They are not jumping the gun. They are Yoshi's words. They were looking into a solution for the attribute points (SCH and SMN for now) since you now have to gimp one. He then also mentioned that they might change the whole system.

The classes are a 1.0 remnant. They should just remove it.

Dark knight= BLM+PLD or BLM+WAR

i dont think its is, more of adv job because we now have all basic classes now with rogue. it can go like mar+ glad= war then Thaumaturge+ archer= blackmage. then take tho two blackmage+war=dark knight but its just a idea.

Well, he also said that once you buy Heavensward you'll be able to get a Dark Knight.

To me that seems to heavily suggest that Dark Knights will become a starter class/job.

beacuse it would have been more logical for them to straight out say that Dark Knight its an Advance Job rather than a Job and according to their words, you just need to buy the xpack and u can jump into it



btw what we assuming/hoping is that the class>job will be removed for the current class as well..tho im guessing mainly due to how the class/job quest it would be very tricky to do

Let me ask you this OP according to the Keynote, they said that Dark knight will not have any prerequisite ( meaning no class or job at a certain level to get DRK), You just get DRK at level 1 and level it up. I don't have any more evidence as you do atm. However considering that fact that the first job they announce ( in which other future job will follow this new formula most likely) has no base class/no Prereq, other jobs will follow suit.

So why have two entirely different systems? Class system ( that won't even be used anymore, kinda pointless to have since FFXIV seems to be heading into the direction of FFXI ( Jobs only). And a No class system in 3.0? That will just confuse the player. It's either 1 or the other.

No bass class/No Prereq makes it pretty clear in their stance on what they want to do with the class system, but I will hold my judgement on that call till we get confirmation from Yoshi.

Yoshida has said there will be Job+Job in the future and "Class > Job" will not always be the case - This is one of those instances. Flat out removal of classes? Probably not, but far far less reliance on them? Most likely and hopefully so. Classes are fine and all, but realistically, now that they moved away from Tanaka's design, it's time to move away from the rest of his design.

I think they just diversify
Some classes like Arcanist have 2 jobs
Some Jobs will have no class
and that's it...

I don't think they would have introduced Rogue if the plan was to get rid of Class few months later
