Give Us Instanced Private Homes

Make it an option for those of us who don't want to be in a neighborhood mix-matched with FC Estates.

Give us a version which would really sort of be how it ought to have been implemented in the first place (at least, not a direct rip of FC Housing for barely less).

We can have our Chocobo roam around the field, our Private Gardens, a Minion of choice prance about the interior.

A secluded beach-house, enchanted forest-home, or cliffside condo.

Home sweet home.

Don't charge more than 1.5m on any server.

A: I’d like to address this first since there are people saying plots are unavailable and prices are just too high. First off, I owe you an apology for my subpar explanation of why personal and Free Company housing cost the same amount. The prices were determined after extensively reviewing the game’s economy, and they won’t go higher than they are now.

Basically, the reason both personal and Free Company housing plots aren’t segregated is that because it’s been a year since our official launch, the rate at which Free Companies are established will gradually decrease. If the land for personal and Free Company housing was separate, we’d have to keep supplementing both in spite of declining demand for Free Company plots. Plus, when a Free Company is dissolved, its property is relinquished. On the other hand, individual players will continue to earn gil, so the demand for personal housing plots will only increase from now on. Separating the two would result in a situation where a player can’t purchase land in crowded personal housing areas or buy an empty plot in the Free Company areas. So, while I do understand that people want to buy a house right away, we have decided to proceed with a system that won’t keep players from building houses in the long run.

We’re planning on doubling the number of plots in Patch 2.4, and we’re aiming to add even more land in later updates. At the moment, though, we don’t have a good handle on how many players are trying to buy personal plots worldwide, so just sit tight─more is on the way.

Finally, I’ve seen a few posts on the forums saying housing would be better if it was instanced like inn rooms are, so I want to point out that instances aren’t saved. Nothing in an inn room needs to be saved; player housing, on the other hand, necessitates personal save data for things like furniture placement and character location. So, it would really amount to adding more land anyway. During a previous Letter from the Producer LIVE, I mentioned that we would make it possible for players who don’t belong to a Free Company to have a house with a yard so they can garden and raise chocobos, and the current system is designed to do this. We will be doing our best to provide more land as soon as possible, so please bear with us a little longer.

1) there's no reason they couldn't have said "whelp, we made a mistake" & slashed the prices.
2) especially given on record the lead director specifically mentioned it would be 'far more affordable'.
3) under my idea, neighbor personal homes would still exist for purchase.
4) there's technology to create 'saved instanced environments' for players, ARR would benefit from it.
5) maybe we can cash shop instanced homes... (lol, it's called a subscription fee).
6) maybe the cash shop should fund R&D so we can have the necessary tech.
7) still no excuse for straight copy-pasting free company housing.

OMG Yes.

See with actual, private property (with land), so much could be expanded upon with this idea.

Have our own Chocobo Barn (real Stables), room for rows of crops, a legitimate space to utilize those training dummies, etc.

Yards right now are so cramped & the houses push so close to the fence-line.

Meh I still think SE could reconsider.

What I do think SE has to do and should have done ever since personal housing became available is restrict one property per account+server. I don't know about other servers but in Excalibur it was insane. The same day the patch came alive and personal housing was open, everyone got their house and their alts too! I know the main reason was gardening, since we still don't have land allotment yet and people want to grow their onions and jute but come on! I really don't find it fair besides the high pricing that we have to compete with alts...
Now it's a bit too late, even if they restrict one house/one account now (what about all those alts who have already a house?), but really SE, bad planning on this subject.

Beat it harder, Toodles! Because I want affordable housing too. And I don't wanna compete with a whole bunch of people logging in right after maintenance and buying up all the better housing spots while the rest of us are still stuck at the character lobby. =(
