Questions about WAR gearing with current content as well as upcoming

I hit level 50 not too long ago after a pretty long hiatus and I've decided to stick with the game for a while. Right now, I'm trying to figure out what statistics I should gear around based on the weapon that I'm probably going to work on getting, which is the Conquerer. It's significantly less work than upgrading my relic weapon for the moment, but is it a mistake to focus on the Conquerer and then hope to grind out a i115 drop later on?

What should my equipment look like if Conquerer is my current weapon? Is it imperative that I work on my relic weapon instead? Am I severely stunting myself in terms of current endgame (excluding savage) and maybe what is coming to us?

I've not even done an EX Primal yet (my group is intimidated by them, go figure) and so there's a motherload of content I haven't experienced yet. Should I be taking a different route to experience all of this? Sorry if this isn't very coherent, I always end up making tangents when I'm typing.

You don't need to get your relic unless you absolutely want to. It's an arduous grind and will take a long long time to complete.

The Conqueror is a great weapon that's easy to acquire and good enough for any content that exists at the moment. Currently, the only better options are the High Allagan Ax (T9, currently hardest content in game, also have to deal with RNG), and the Bravura Nexus (Super long grind to get there).

Get conqueror. Your weapon is your biggest stat gain. (Dmg trumps every other stat by a good margin)

Then build out to i110. That will make current content easier and set you up for 2.4.

Work on your relic in your spare time.

The Conqueror is a fine weapon and weapons are usually the best upgrade. Technically the Novus is marginally better for DPS (or parry but don't do that) and the Nexus gains 5 ilevel and is certainly better...but the 5 ilevel on the weapon just won't be that important for you yet.
It's lots of time and gil to get the Novus/Nexus. I would slowly work on the a Relic (either the War's or an alt) just because. But don't rack yourself on it.

Later on in the patch cycle, if you're "stuck" with just the Conqueror,DPS with newer weapons might start to be a bit harder to hold hate on. But that's not something to worry much about now.

From the standpoint of what happens when 2.4 drops:
You'll want to be i110 to start the new (Final) Coil. You'll have uncapped soldiery, sands from ST and gear from SCoB. So you could grind that 110 out quite readily. The only truly important thing about that i110 gear's stats is that you hit accuracy requirements for SCoB and have some extra for the Final coil. You probably want to prioritize Vitality accessories since the Final coil is likely to hit hard before you gear up. But when you get the chance grab strength stuff, just to make older content faster anyway.
You'll have new tomes for i120 gear. Prioritize left-hand-side stuff. The weapon would be even better but who knows how easy the i120/130 weapon might be to get.
Shiva EX will probably drop i115 weapons, given how Leviathan worked. They might even be i120 upgradable.
