A Relic Reborn

I recently got my first level 50 and I was eager to obtain the Relic Weapon, Curtana. I'm on the phase where you turn in the melded scimitar to Gerolt. I purchased both the Aeolian Scimitar and the two Battledance III materia required. I'm currently leveling up a Blacksmith so I can get the "Waking the Spirit" quest and begin affixing materia to weapons.

My question is... once I'm level 19 and able to learn how to meld materia, will I be able to immediately attach those two materia to the Aeolian Scimitar? Or since it's a level 55 Weapon, is there some minimum Blacksmith level required to meld the weapon?

The level and class required to meld to an item are the same level and class required to repair the item, which is listed on the item's tooltip. In the case of the Aeolian Scimitar, it takes a level 40 BSM.

If you don't want to grind that out, you can always find a 40+ BSM to meld it for you. No trading required, just right-click them and select "Request Meld." You'll need two Grade 3 Carbonized Matters in your inventory (since you're melding grade 3 materias), too.
