More Fantastical Environments in Expansion & Beyond

A lot of the current environments are extremely 'naturalistic' in appearance (e.g. fairly ordinary forests, plains, etc.).

I love them, don't get me wrong... but I'd like to see much more fantasy in my Final Fantasy.

Coil being the exception, Coil is incredible but it's not outer-world... some outer-world uniqueness would be welcome!

Most of the 'fantasy' in the environments is entirely crystal-based.

Any chance we can see less 'earth-like' environments in the future?

Expansion footage is awesome, the architecture & floating rocks are sweet, but I'm curious if we'll get more "fantastical" environs or not.

Earth is the opposite of generic...it has swamps, caves, deserts, shores, hills/mountains, badlands

Well we are going to get a lot of floating stuff, but I don't know if we will see anything else alien tin 3.0

I would like to see places similar to sky or sea in ffxi. This game is littered with Allagan ruins as opposed to being littered with zilartian ruins in ffxi, so I imagine those types of places would have a completely different look and feel, but the general idea would be cool.

I like it. I came from WoW & a lot of their environments were far more "magical" if you will.

I like the naturalistic world of FFXIV. It feels "realistic". Not some fake cartoony forest or something. ^^ That isnt to say that I wouldn't welcome areas like sky or sea from XI. But I do hope they still look "real".

Yeah I'm with you. I don't mean to express I dislike the naturalistic touches or that I want them removed.

They just certainly could be enhanced with more fantastical elementals beyond simply crystals & floating rock.

He probably means something like Macalania Forest from FFX, a crystalized forest, kinda like that. And I agree, it would be really nice to have more fantasy-like maps :p

Even though i think that the “Earthly”-environments already have certain type of “Fantasy”-feel to it...

They just wanted to set a certain tone / atmosphere for Ishgard and Dravania.
