They said long ago that the new race will be revealed when a famous character will show her face, so not really.

Famous Character =/= Yugiri (it could have been an unrevealed character)

Yoshi: "Yugiri is the new race" is a better confirmation....hence the thread....but eh whatever gripers wanna gripe.
