extra skill trails
Okay heres a small idea for new skills without raising lvl cap can be done even when the max 99.
Do solo trails for each job to give them certain skills my examples
Black mage: aero/water/earth (either cross class or w/e) Dark spells and such
White mage: Oil trail (increase fire dmg) and haste trail and dia trail (along with things like aoe regen or something)
Dragoon: dragon scales, and Dragon breath trail (Scales degress damage taken by 20% of so (or consome dragon ability) allows the dragoon to eat dragon bodys to learn a move) such as venom breath, ice dragon breath etc
Sch: New fairy skills (for the fairys such as eos reflect or something along those lines)
Smn:trails for a stronger egis not primal just increase there size and make them closer to a primals power but not close.
mrd: Xstrike
mnk: Ice fist, Water kick trail
Gather trails:
Miner: mine from a sleeping glomn (after will allow miners to mine from dead golem bodys)
Fisher: catch Shark king (will allow fishers to have a small boat on a lake to fish on or something)
Bot: Mine from a sleeping treant: (same thing as the miner but allows to gather from dead plant monsters.

This reminds me in a way of merit abilities from FFXI. You were able to get new abilities by gaining exp and spending points, without the need to raise the level cap. In your idea we'd be doing certain achievement style trials, though. That being said, the stance that the dev team has taken is that new abilities won't be added until the level cap is raised, so this is something they'd probably be considering when they've exhausted that route.
