Phoenix Down Suggestion

Way phoenix down's are now in the game, they are nigh useless. Can only carry one on you at a time, can only rez people in your party, and you can't be in combat.

At this stage of the game, the last two arn't really an issue anymore, someone in your party dies after a fight, swap to sch/whm or if in an instance have them release back to start.

My suggestion to make Phoenix Down something everyone will carry on them, is to allow us to rez our self with it. If you die with a phoenix down in your inventory, and arn't in an instance, have a prompt ask if you'd like to use your phoenix down to resurrect yourself.

They wouldn't be the "in demand" item, since lets face it, how often do you die in the over world. But it would be a neat little niche item that could save you some leg work and a teleport cost. Wouldn't really be a big advantage since you can only carry one at a time, and they aren't craftable.

I use them quite often on bean sprouts.

They do need some form of use. >__>; I always just toss them when I get one.

+1 Why not? Like you say you can only carry one and it's not like people die often out and about anyway. Would at least make them useful.

What what what...? Medicines which are USEFUL? What sacrilege is this?

Historically, potions, ethers and phoenix downs were the most useful items a player could get in a Final Fantasy game. In the MMO versions they're about as useless as it gets. I personally don't understand why SE hates consumables so much to dumb them down so consistently. After all, they cost gil to make and no one is under the delusion that they're a replacement for a proper healer. I'd personally welcome the change to phoenix downs. Remove their unique status, make them craftable and while we're at it, make the rest of the potions and ethers a lot less rubbish.

Allow the use of phoenix down on enemies and add a Phantom Train boss fight.

I tend to use stuff like Elixirs and Hi-Elixirs as a quick HP/MP boost when needed. But they seriously need to cut these timers in half. Really, a Hi-Elixir is nearly on an 8 minute timer and it still prevents use of anything AFTER that. Aside from me I hardly know anyone who even uses food or medicines in combat. Maybe a Cordial and crafting food but stuff in combat nobody bothers to use, because it's pretty much crap. In FFXI (This is an example, hold your rages.) it was near mandatory you carried around some food. I remember farming mushrooms to make Roasted Mushrooms for my White Mage, but here food is pretty much a joke most of the time and potions/ethers are generally a trash drop.

I like this idea, would be really handy to use them on ourselves and only have one at a time. I have one, and I don't ever use it. Seems sad that they don't have a bigger demand.

There would need to be some limitations on them to conserve balance, maybe a 10 minutes debuff before another can be reused on the same person.

@Mihana, I only use ether/elixirs for triple/quad flares XD Also, pots, foods etc can be usefulo, but not mandatory for anything. Which, imo, is fine.

I always found it got old fast having to farm every week for x amount of consumables to be able to do content.
