So whatever happened to those new races?

I had to take a break from the game for a few months and haven't been keeping tabs on any new information.

But, anywho, since returning, I haven't seen anything on the new race[s] I thought that we were going to get by this Autumn. Has Yoshi-P dropped hints in some live letters? Or are we stuck holding out until the Fanfest?

IIRC, the only info we have on new races is that it'll be playable around the time we'll get to see a "certain character's face". Can't remember if that was slated for 2.4 or the expansion.

All we know is what we seen in the 2.2 patch storyline, and I think in an article somewhere it said they recorded a voice acting scene with Urianger's voice actor reacting to seeing Yugiri's, the character of the new race, face. Either that or they showed it to his voice actor and said his reaction. I don't remember the article but it was something long those lines.

I'd be more interested in new races if FFXIV didn't outright punish players for having alts. No cross-character bank, can't mail them anything, and we have to pay extra for more than one character per server. I assume changing race for existing characters will require a Fantasia item, which I think is around $10 USD. All this in addition to paying a monthly subscription.

I think if they come out with a new race, they'll give out single Fantasias again. Well at least I hope so, otherwise there won't be much incentive to try out the new race.

New races were never due to come before the expansion.

We'll probably see what she looks like pretty soon, but I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until the expansion to let people use it.

If SE wanted to be lazy they should just make some new faces and make mixing races.
