Surprised Ninja came out before the gunner class...

We have a single Physical Range DPS class...
and the fact that they mentioned Musketeer ages ago...and there already being a guild placed for it...
I wonder why Ninja is coming out before that.
Anyone know why they went this route? Just curious.

It kinda sucks, but it doesn't look like much are having a lot of
beef with his decision, I just think it sounded more reasonable...In due time I guess.

Actually all in all there is 5 melee lol, don't forget the tanks!
With that though, you only have BLM, BRD, SMN and SCH.
5 to 4...but that's only if you wanna be technical.

Yoshi likes dual-knife wielders more than gun-wielders. That's about it. During the beta, he'd post about how he'd like to have a Scout class with dual-knives, and even after the Arcanist reveal, all he'd say for the next class is that "fans of FF" wouldn't forgive him if it didn't appear next. Turns out he was basing that off of fans of FF the series (hence, Rogue/Thief), and not fans of XIV the game he was making.

eh with how most statics are good luck that ranged physical classes spot would just go to bard with the current 2 melee 2 ranged setup that most groups are running

Well, you can look at it this way.... There is already 3 ranged dps in brd, blm and smn. There are only 2 melee dps period, he balanced those numbers out instead of adding another/4th ranged one.

3 melee, 3 ranged.

The game also lacks the quintessential "stealth" class that is standard to most MMOs and Final Fantasies tbh. Rogue fills in that gap and rounds out the base roles.

The gun class will be a healer, I'm telling you.

I wouldn't mind if they added a gun class that branched range dps or heals in a similar vein as arcanist. I'm thinking Musketeer and Chemist...

While I am okay either Ninja or Musketeer, I doubt what is the point with stealth class in this game ?
Because every dungeon has one pattern, each mobs stay exactly where it is every time.
Avoid boss mechanic ?, questionable because stealth from DoL has yet avoid AoE.
Frontline ?, only reason to stealth but how may ppl playing Frontline ?
