Okay, its official....

Got my perception up to 290, caught 4 Sovereigns in the last few hours all nq. So don't waste your time on food, buffs, melds Just go fish them, you'll catch just as many without out it....

Luckily, it's not official for me.

at 344g 306p I catch about 7 per hour, with 2/3 being HQ.

Maybe you need a bigger sample size.

*Edit* I overestimated my per hours. I'm actually averaging 7, not 10. 2/3 hq is still about right though.

you dont need that much perception. In the end the hq rate is capped at 15%, which doesnt require max perception on gear

Either way I found the food more valuable for kicking my Gathering up a notch rather than the Perception emphasis - otherwise I was very rarely missing casts and that hurts the soul, because you just know that one was HQ.

If you haven't completed the HQ fish achievement you can take that number, and the total fish caught count and find out your real rate. Mine gets closer to 20 the more fish I catch.
