PS3 to PS4

My PS3 has lost it's ability to connect to the internet. So, I want to buy the PS4, but how can I transfer my FFXIV data over when I can't even sign in to the PSN network?

PLEASE HELP! Thanks...

First of all - the only locally stored data is gear sets, macros and cross bar settings. All your character progress, items, gil etc. are stored server side and will be instantly available once you login to PS4 version of the game. To transfer the (local) data you have following options:

- Try to somehow make your current PS3 to connect at least for a little while - if you're using WiFi try LAN (cable) port instead or vice versa
- If you have access to another PS3 copy the local game save data to USB flash drive, then to other PS3 and login to PSN there, install the game and then from launcher page initiate the PS3 -> PS4 save data transfer

While the second option is pretty much time and download consuming you can opt to re-do your gear sets, cross bar and macros isntead. It would be usefull though if you have multiply characters and / or numerous classes or jobs with large amount of settings to replicate. Olso remember that if you have more than 8 different characters it will copy over only the 8 last played ones.

So, I can download my macro and gear sets to a flash drive, and when I make the changeover to PS4 I can transfer the data? Sorry, but what steps do I take to do that, after the download or before? And thank you for your help. I can occasionally log on before my PS3 starts sounding like a vacuum and freezes.

Well - you can download the data to USB on your "broken" PS3 but that will not help uou on PS4 as that uses another format. So you'd either need to use another PS3 to start up the game there or try to make your own PS3 to connect to PSN at least fo a short while till you manage to upload the configuration files via the lancher page of the game (big "Transfer Data PS3 - > PS4" button in the bottom righ corner of the screen). Once the data have been uploaded to server, you can then download the to the PS4 version game once installed.

Honestly, the amount of hoops you have to jump through to do the data transfer isn't worth it. You're better off just making them again. Unless you have like crazy stupid insane macros that are worth the trouble

Do I need to purchase the game again? Uploaded to server, but now stuck

You need to use the free PS3 - > PS4 upgrade option in MogStation - no need to purchase the game.
