Free trial character

I made a free trial character, got to level 20, and then bought the game. I logged onto my game (bought game, not free trial) and I'm still not getting any exp.
Since I made the char on the free trial is it going to stay capped even though I'm playing on the actual game now?

You checked Mogcentral and made sure that is not set to free play?

oh no I didn't! how do I do that?

go to the main lodestone page. na.finalfantasyxiv.com/ Then go to Mog Station on the right hand side and sign in the it can check your account settings.

I can't access the actually site from work so sorry it is not more specific I will update this when I get home.
