Chocobo lost rank 11 + 400k+ exp

My chocobo was rank 10 with rank 11 unlocked (rank 10 with one star icon) with the use of a Thavnarian Onion and had 400k experience. Upon being discharged from FC with chocobo still in FC stable it was reduced back to rank 10 and lost the 400k experience.
