Galvanize will go down first and only after that stoneskin will take damage, so yeah, it works.
As Tsubasa said, Galvanize will take the damage first and then stoneskin. I only use stoneskin when I'm doing 4-man content, after an adloqium crit. If you rely too much on stoneskin you'll be low on mp in no time.
Yeah, stoneskin is only really good, say, at the start of a dungeon or any raid content, before each boss in a dungeon, and then in Coil or Primals to throw down on a tank (though at that point the WHM should be doing that while SCH does Adlo). So while Adlo+Stoneskin is quite nice (especially to throw on Cleric Stance and demolish a mob with all your DoTs) the best thing to do while progressing in between bosses or if their is a WHM to throw it up is to have a macro set up for Adlo+Embrace.
During Garuda ex me an the whm I typically heal with stone skin and also the mt for the double wicked wheel. Which if my also crits can have him pretty much take no damage. The combo is also good for mountain busters in titan ex. As a warrior I routinely eat those for 0 damage :)
