Spiney how I hate thee

I just wonder as this probably was brought up before, but why everyone gets so upset if ot doesn't grab spiney in nado phase at the start. Does spiney hit that hard that a squishy healer, that I am usually playing, can't take 2 stacks before a tank vokes? Does it really reset my cast where it actually affect gameplay of tanks don't grab it?

Primary thing is it can cause interrupts when healing. Not the amount of damage it does.

As a healer I'm actually partial to your argument; it is easy for a tank to take the hate off of the healer at 2 stacks. But I guess people are just so used to tank swapping it that it's expected.

Also it's easy enough to heal through the final few phases even with an occasional interrupt. If it were up to me, I would have said that it's no big deal.

The other thing I forgot to mention is the type of player. Many people get set in a certain way, or they feel that it can only, or has to only be done a certain way. As for taking it from the healer, that sort of depends how intense the healing is when they do it. If they provoke right before a heal goes off it will go right back to the healer.

I have only done Garuda ex as drg and usually do it when fc member need clear and for our small fc we usually need to use df or pf to get full party - so when I see spiny at off tank while I kill Chirada I know we have a chance to beat Garuda. If off tank ignore spiny party usually wipe - don't ask why because I spend the fight staring at Chirada/Garuda/Suparna butt and don't care and see much what happen outside the butt area.

If the Spiny is on WHM they can't Holy during plumes. :(

In our group we just make sure the tanks are 1st and 2nd on Garuda's enmity list and it will go to one of them, always.

I've often seen the healer say not to worry about it if they get Spiny

It's good practice for the OT to grab it, but their priority is Chirada. In higher DPS situations it is actually good for the OT not to have to grab it though since they then may not have Provoke for Suparna (not an issue if you're all ranged DPS however)

the first thing i look for is spiny, because if you can hit it while it is still on the outside, it will come to you, no need to voke it. ive always seen it go straight to the healer if i dont, and its taken 4-5 shield lobs during tornado phase, as i like to save my provoke and it isnt mandatory to take spiny.
