You'll notice that your EXP bar never goes up at level 50. It's always at 0. Once the cap goes up you'll need to grind each level and if they stick with the ramp that's currently in the game files it's going to be a steep grind to 60...
The answer should be an obvious no. Your chat log will never mention gain of experience at the current level cap. your exp bar shows 0/562000 on any level 50 class. And on top of that, it would make progression ridiculously quick. People would start on level 55 (assuming that's the new cap) and possibly on more if not all classes from the amount of time we have had to play the game.
FFXI allowed you to get within 1 exp of the next level, but that was because you had to have buffer experience since there was a penalty for death. Since there is no such penalty here, there's no need. I wouldn't worry about it too much anyway. There are definitely going to be some people hitting the level cap on day 1, with the rest of us just a bit behind them.
SE loves grind... more than they love anything else... so... that should tell you.
Should we all be instantly at the level cap instead? What's the alternative to level grind? XIV has one of the quickest level grinds of any MMO yet still people like you whine... Of course there's whiners on the other side as well saying XIV's climb is too quick. Check out the 50-60 experience ramp on XIVDb and you'll see what we might be expecting.
Yeah that would be a bad idea... Most of my level 50's would hit the new cap as soon as I logged in after the increase
