Agreed! This is something I've been thinking about for a while now because seeing character's names all the time interferes with battle information and the environment. It would be nice to see any of the following options:
-Make all character names transparent (preferred)
-Make my character's name transparent
-Hide my character's name altogether
Since there have been no other replies to this thread, it seems unlikely that this will be considered. But it would be nice! :) -

I would very much like to see options like this added. I do believe they have started to implemented functions like these, but at the moment we can only toggle of all names, all HP bars etc...I would assume that it is in the works to be implemented in a later patch, 1.18a maybe, just incase it isnt i would like to suggest the ability to toggle on/off these options:
- NPC Names
- Own Name
- Player Names
- Monster Names
- Display of Bazaar icon/Repair icon/LS Crests. (Separate toggles)
- Non-party PC names(All players that are not in your party have their names removed from screen)
- HP bars for monsters
- HP bars for players
