Help getting used to controller controls

I've gotten used to being able to hold R2 or L2 then using a skill, and placing skills on hotbars, etc. But there are a few things that limit the use of a controller, at least in my eyes, over the use of keyboard/mouse:

1. While moving the ground target selector, you cannot "Confirm" that place to place your spell, pet, limit.

2. After you confirm the ground target, it will automatically go out of ground target mode, there's no setting to avoid this. (This happens on keyboard/mouse too, but due to how natural the two things are, you can re-ground target within half a second.)

3. Even though I switched Click target to "Enemies" instead of "Others," Unsheathing my weapon still reverts to "Others." I don't want to select NPCs and Objects. This is incredibly non-useful during protection fates and defense fates that don't have healable NPCs

I can't tank reliably with titan egi without immediately being able to re-place my titan egi after confirming placement

I also cannot resize the chatbox without having to put a mouse into the PS4, since using the touch pad and clicking on the resize triangle just causes the PS4 client to select chat input or cancel the mouse movement.

for ground AOE that you place let go of the r2/l2 and hit X (for PS contoller)
if you tap R1 it till go to the next mob not a NPS or other player

Not sure if it works for Ps4 but on the other platforms L1 + R3 (clicking the right joystick) turns on the virtual mouse mode, then you use the right stick to move the cursor, L2 for left mouse button and R2 for right mouse button. L1 + R3 exits mouse mode.

Click target is different from the targeting filter. Click targeting only affects what you target by hitting X. "Others" when you pull out your weapon refers to what you will target by hitting left/right on the d-pad. Go into the character config and mess around with the targeting options. There are literally tons of options and things you can change. You can change the filter for when your weapons are sheathed and unsheathed, disable the sheath/unsheathe changing altogether, make custom filters, make filter shortcuts, etc.

Open your character configuration. It is under System settings after you press Start.
You want Targeting, and Filters.
Set the Sheathed and Unsheathed filters to the target types you prefer.
Something I have been using that is not default, but after trying, i am liking, is Toggle.
Toggle sets R2 /L2 keys to a toggle mode. Meaning you press it, button options stay Up till you hit R2/L2 again. As a caster is wonderful. When you are fishing is the Best.

Under Targeting / Filters, there are two different ways to configure what to target. A section at the top lets you configure it based on whether your weapon is drawn or sheathed, and a section below it lets you configure it based on L1 + a face button. You should only have one of those two methods enabled, or they interfere with each other. It sounds as though you have both enabled and the drawn/sheathed settings are overriding the L1+face button settings.
