Will we ever get more options for high end class weapons?

As an example: The only high end shield and wand for WHM is Leviathan EX gear.

I'm not even sure if THM has high end shield and wand setup.

Atma weapons, Coil weapons, Crystal Tower series weapons, tome weapons, etc. All are the "mainstream" type. It would be nice if we could see those splits again so that there are more options for high end gear.

Anyone think this will ever happen or will we be stuck with mainstream gear types if we want high end gear?

First, as a random fact, we have more options for level 100 weapons than we ever did for any previous level.

There'll also likely be more in the future, as crafters are able to produce them as well; when the Soldiery cap goes at 2.4 (and likely soldier rates rise), getting a Tomestone from Syrcus for your weathered weapon is going to be even easier. There might be more weapons for various levels introduced retroactively too, although I am inclined to doubt it.

At the point of 2.4, of course, new weapons will be introduced, to match up to the new cap. There'll be very few ways to get them, and that'll be a deliberate choice of design, because they want to ensure that having a high level weapon is something you worked for.

(It's also worth noting, the reason the only high end shield for WHM is the Levi EX Shield is because the only high-end one handed weapon for WHM is the Levi EX Wand, and I think the devs sort of want to shy away from forcing certain classes to pray for more drops to do the same thing other classes get from one drop [sorry, PLDs])

Any options implemented would merely be to present the illusion of option because there are only so many ways that SE can mix and match those secondary stats. Crit/Speed, det/acc. There. We have options. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "mainstream". Do you mean weapon types like daggers/swords for PLD? I believe the highest level 1h weapon/shield for BLM is Allagan Scepter and Primal Focus Shield.

And yes, I know why the levi weapons are equal in iLV. That doesn't mean that they couldn't potentially add in more options in say... The shop. You know, where you trade in items for the weapons?

They could potentially start making those two part weapons a "set" so that you get both together as one drop and have the option to upgrade both at the same time (in the case of gear such as levi and weathered and zenith) For example, you might upgrade your 1H and then get a ticket to upgrade the shield part of the set so that there is no difference in cost from 2h gear. Or perhaps these items could be "split" up. So instead of getting 1 tomestone, you get 2, but 2h gear use 2 while 1h gear use 1.

Even so, the highest level BLM weapon is a 2H weapon. Which is kind of my point. The non-main type is lesser in iLV.

Also, it isn't a complete illusion of choice for WHM and BLM. There are benefits to 1h weapons and there are benefits to 2h weapons. These don't really apply to the other secondary stats.

Now, for the actual secondary stats, yes, it is an illusion of choice.

And some people might like how 1h looks over 2h.

Yes, in particular because currently, they are really the only classes that really have a big difference between their weapon types. Of course, that isn't to say that I wouldn't like to see the other classes get more options as well, especially with the ninja class coming out, which could potentially make sense with 2 1H or 1 2H.

Like a scholar or Summoner with a 1H and offhand option would be interesting. Like a quill 1H and a book offhand setup.
A Paladin with a 2H sword would be interesting.
A warrior... well, I guess warriors kind of only make sense with their current 2H, maybe having a 2H sword pathline that is shared with Paladins?
Lancers really only make sense with Lances, but we could have a different type that focuses on slashing rather than piercing (I forget the name of that type)
Monks... I'd love to see a dual 1H option.
Bard... I'd love to see as an alternative of musical instruments.
