Help with SMN
Hey all so I main a BLM however my SMN is geared pretty much the same in case a raid my static and I do need an extra person to rez. However, my luck in getting weapon drops was kind of bad for A LONG while and only recently was able to get Laeventinn for my BLM.
This left my SMN with Omnitome. Not the best weapon to have for SCoB. Thing is, I don't know where to go from this for a better weapon for SMN. Another weathered weapon is out of the question because I need to gear my SCH. (my actual secondary job). And ATMA-Animus-Novus path is out of the question because my current ATMA is going towards BRD and by the time 2.4 drops I'll have gotten a set to use for Ninja.
So my options are running kind of thin. That leaves the Levi, Ramuh, and T5 books. So my question goes to all the SMNs out there---which book is worth getting more.

I'd say, which both would require some massive farming, go for T5. But try for the Ramuh weapon ultimately, more DMG and higher ilvl.
-
If your only options are Leviathan, Ramuh or the Allagan Grimoire then Ramuh's has the highest stats, since it's the only i100 out of those (unless you upgrade a Wave).
As an additional note; you mentioned that your secondary job is Scholar. Make sure you're using the stat bonuses on Intelligence when you play Summoner because if all you have in the foreseeable future for Summoner is an i100 weapon and on top of that you have your points on anything but INT your DPS is going to be lacking, making the bonus of having an extra raise not very appealing.
-
Now if I could only beat Ramuh...LOL but alright, I suppose that is the best option I just figured I'd ask anyways since a lot of times players will stick it out with lower weapons because the overall stats of the weapon+gear are better than shooting just for a higher ilvl and a small amount of, for example, INT and VIT.
And yeah, I actually split my points 15/15 between the two. SCH won't take too bad a hit that way since my Crit is high and the job works around shields more than raw healing. And though my SMN won't be groundbreaking at the top of the DPS charts the constant ticking of the DoTs being more powerful than what they would be at 0 added INT is a bonus regardless.
-
Another thing you will need to consider is where you will be using SMN and whether you be at the accuracy cap. The Omnitome has a huge amount of accuracy and SMN accuracy cap is higher than BLM. I'd stick with Omnitome if you aren't going for an i110 weapon since Magic Damage doesn't scale as much as Weapon Damage it wont be a big deal compared to missing a ton of accuracy.

It's worth noting that the Ramuh book's secondaries (acc and ss) both amount to near 0 actual dps increase. Of those 3 books, the T5 book tends to win just barely in terms of damage. All are fine though and you should focus on which you'd think would be the easiest.

I say go for Tidal Wave Grimoire (it's what I use). It's Levi's drop and you need to get a mirror. Levi Ex can be cleared with DF party more so than T5. The mirror drops sucks, though. I went three weeks without seeing a mirror, but then do a farm party and we get three mirrors in five runs. Ramuh is pain, and is currently my wall. I think Levi is the way to go - it's more accessible than the Allagan book and Ramuh's book. The Wave Grimoire (sans mirror) is still a decent book.

If your alt is SCH, I guess stat allocation is 30 MND. From low ilvl weapon and -30 Int, it will effect to your dps pretty much.
I don't know how high of your overall raid dps but this may lead to another problem, dps check.
Extra rez is handy but only when your gears can compete to the contents.
Ask your raid to stop dying lol.

spades > levi100 > allagan. Wouldn't bother with the others.
Talk your static into farming ST, UAT isn't that rare and if you're running sch, smn and blm for them they should understand you need some more UATs. then just hunt to unweather them.

Honestly, Book of Spades is the best readily available weapon out there for a SMN right now (short of making a Crit/Det Novus - which would give you 13 more CRIT). You'd be better off getting that and getting an alternate weapon for your SCH as some of the primal ones are on par with Book of Diamonds.
