[Suggestion] New character creation restrictions on closed servers

Hi there. :)

I'm having a hard time understanding the logic of preventing people who already play on a specific server from creating any new characters on that server. Same amount of people. Same server load. Different toons. Yet the character creation restrictions for "closed" servers make it prohibitively difficult to use all 8 of our toon slots. Can't make new characters elsewhere and transfer, either, so it's not about collecting transfer fees.

RP considerations aside, lots of people like having alts, to try out different races and/or have different characters for different purposes. Forcing them to spread these across multiple servers isolates them from their chosen server community, free company, and friends.

Why not simply restrict the creation of new characters on full servers to those accounts which already have characters there?

It's true, you cannot play two characters on the same account at the same time. But i dont think it's as much of a decision based on how many characters you have on the same server on the same account, i think it simply looks at the total amount of created/active characters and if it hits a threshhold of say 15.000 (a completly grasped out of air number), it blocks further creation till an administrator allows for further character creation after an evaluation, or when the number of characters falls below the specified amount again.

Coding wise, i could set something up that blocks character creation once it hits 15.000 characters with one line of code. Five lines perhaps if it checks if they're active, being used or banned.

If the same coder wishes for the characters to be displayed by account and the number of characters active on said account on each server, i wouldnt know where to even begin. It's going to be really difficult to implement.

But honestly, i dont see what the fuss is about. If you want to just try out a diffirent race, you can do so on any server. You can play any class/job on one character, and it's even infinitely less helpful to create a diffirent character for each purpose. You wouldnt have shared gear, shared inventory, the ability to trade between your characters, cross-class skills and quests available to you. "Free" retainers and roleplaying aside, there's 0 reason to have an alternate character.

And besides, i like servers being closed, it means i dont get any RMT spam for the duration of it being closed >.>
