A Hunting We Will Go...?
Before I start I'm not really interested if you disagree. If hunting is working for you, congratulations, but I speak as one who has had his love affair with the game almost completely ruined by hunts.
Are we to be left with this laggy, blinky, broken toy indefinitely? I'm sick to death of monsters I can't see and/or can't reach in time.
But more than anything, it's the impact it's had on my server community as a whole...I can't comment beyond my own server here, but the hostility hunting has fostered is palpable, and the language used has been vile. My sister has already banned my nephew from playing since the advent of hunts based on the post hunt slanging matches.
I can't help feeling let down by ENIX for not preventing the obvious negative reprocussions (my first thought on reading the patch notes were "oh dear...this'll be ugly" and I'm sure I couldn't be the only one who thought it). It's a cut-throat mechanism, clearly never designed with inclusivity in mind.

I try and not play too much when the little kids are awake or not in school. Dont know what happened to their generation, but i find them extremely violent, disruptive, abusive and hurtful due to their blanket of anonymity.
During the night when most North American players are asleep, hunts are a godsend. Fun, amazing, people waiting for each other, a whole sense of camaderie. Till they wake up and everything goes to hell basicly.
I've had friends and people from my FC leave the game because people in dungeons were abusive beyond words. I'm a little less sensitive to it myself, but every Syrcus tower seems to have these massive shout matches were people are basicly telling each other to quit, to kill themselves or to have sexual relations with themselves.
So i dont think it's particularly something that the hunts brought in. Probably a majority of kids who got tired of screaming at each other in World of Warcraft or League of Legend or any such games and went to play XIV :/
Only way to put a stop to this i feel is to have GM's actually DO something about this for a change...

True...ENIX do seem a lil sloppy when it comes to policing the world they made, but I can't help feeling hunts has added a new level of unpleasantness to the gaming experience...as conducted in open world shout its pretty intrusive...you might only be in the area gathering, quietly whistling a happy tune (who hasn't sung the "hiho" song whilst mining..?) n all of a sudden its there in your Shout...

I haven't really noticed a problem on our server lately (this could be because I'm logging on late night/early morning for most NA people), the most I see is usually grumpy ribbing about people asking for waits and resets. This actually almost puts people in a good mood as they start competing in shout to see who can come up with the most outrageous and absurd reasons for holding a hunt up. People who can't handle hunts are either leaving them or getting used to them because I'm not hearing nearly so much whining. The hunt community on Sarg is really friendly from my experiences.

Then you are extremely lucky...if I were to sample post hunt 'banter' from my server here I would be immediately banned, so I won't... ;)
