I'm just returning to FFXIV after a bit of a hiatus and with me, I'm bringing an entire group of people I've been playing with in other games. I've already been established on Balmung for ages, as I'm a 1.0 player but many of them are new to Balmung.
I've noticed that, shockingly, the character creation lockouts are still in effect. I'm wondering if these really ever change? He's in California, so he's operating on PDT and every day he gets up to make his character and the server is already locked by then.
Is there a sweet point that he can log in and create this darn thing? Do they ever unlock the servers during the day at all, because I've never seen them reopen during the day. It's becoming rather disheartening that I can't get some of these people into the game with the rest of us (of which there are quite a few, so it's not like we can pick up and move, plus we're all RP'ers and this is where most of the RP seems to be).
Any thoughts on this? Any end in sight?

not the weekend, and not in the morning. his time i would suggest around 2-5 in the morning.

I would suggest early mornings Monday through Thursday. He may have to get up extra early just to make his character so he can play later in the day. Also you can check the lodestone under News: Regarding Character Creation Restrictions

Wow, Japan's data centers seem maxed and as of my post its 4:15AM over there. Wonder why they haven't created new servers there...

Personally, I've found that there is a brief window available right after maintenance or patch day. But, be careful. Since the site is only updated every so many hours, it's not always up-to-date with the actual game. The page might say that a wold server is accepting new characters, but when you go to start a new game with said character, you learn that the server isn't accepting new characters.
It happens every once in a while, but it's often NA/EU world servers that are not accepting new characters.Quote:
