Maxed gathering / Perception? Fish gets away? Fishing improvements request.

SE, why are some of the fish getting away with maxed stats AND FC buff?
This is not the "you do not have enough gathering" error.
By comparison, BOT and FSH do not have this issue with i80 gathered mats, esp as they can buff to compensate (+X% to gathering).
Further, with current implementation, FSH has inherited the teleport costs of BOT/MIN while still incurring the the costs for lure, esp since the majority of the "value" fish require live lure.
To date, I believe I have incurred upwards of 100,000g in teleport costs because quite simply, you cannot make it to the zones you need to by chocobo in the time required.

Perhaps a fish with a reasonable chance to desynth into Aetheryte Tickets could be considered?

The requests for a tackle box are justified in that FSH now has to carry ~300 of many lures. I personally carry ~27 stacks of lure = one whole inventory pack.
Idea: Lures act in the way mounts and pets do, you use them one, they add to your tackle box. When used, they act as an abillity buff.

Other than that, and not being able to farm my own Fieldcraft Demimateria, the idea of FSH as a source for vanity/fun stuff is great.
I'm hoping to fish these pets: Moon, Octopus, Shark, and Jellyfish.

Might be time to allow the use of +% with the cost of GP like MIN/BOT for FSH too.

some of the big fish are insanely rare and while fishing half a day under right conditions I only get a hand full of bites
then I still lose atleast 2/3 hooks, which is more then annoying

oh, and I'm sitting on 393 gathering, which is the absolute possible reachable maximum x(

It has been my experience with Fisher so far that the class was added in a way to appeal to old-school MMORPG gamers. In other words, RNG reigns supreme. Unlike other Gathering jobs, FSH has only very limited control over what items they gather; by carefully choosing location and bait, they can narrow the pool down to only a few types of items, but outside of very rare cases (and none of those cases involve Big Fish), there's always going to be some randomness involved in which fish you catch.

As for some fish getting away even with maxed out stats, that's also working as intended. SE wants those fish to be rare and hard to catch. Even if you hook one, there's a strong chance it's going to get away. The idea is to max out the sense of satisfaction you get when you finally reel one in; it's a rush that long-time MMORPG gamers are very familiar with upon finally getting a rare item drop, and it can be pretty addictive. Since this appears to be SE's goal, I highly doubt they have any plans to change it.

As for a tackle box, the devs have given the dreaded "We have no plans at this time" message (I can't remember which thread). While I'd like one, too, we can pretty much just hope that SE someday changes their mind. If they do add any kind of off-hand for Fisher, though, they're going to need to rebalance pretty much all the catch requirements in the game, as they've all been balanced to exclude the off-hand stats that other Gathering classes get (only need 380ish Gathering to catch the hardest fish, for instance, whereas MIN and BTN need at least 408 to gather the highest items).

even with the waterproof cotton in front of my eyes it feels like an utter timewaste

it takes days to catch some of the required fish, then you have to desynth it with 70% success (which feels like 70% failure rate..) and if
its a success you have a 5-10% chance to get the item you are looking for

they should atleast make the vanity stuff 100% drops from fish, that would be still annoying enough
