PvP/PvE Hotbars
hi devs and PvP forum users.
not sure if this has been brought up, in the works, or not possible but
i would love it if my PvP hotbars were separate from my PvE hotbars.
im really loving FLs but one gripe is always having to redo my bars.
i play with a controller and have only mastered the use of
2 hotbars. any more and i get sluggish and unable to react properly.
ex. it would be nice if my PvE SCH was independent from my PvP SCH in the amoury system.
hope that made sense.

Just would like to say I would also like to see this implemented if possible. For SCH I have 4 hotbars that I use now. Ctrl +, Alt + and Shift +. I would like to take it down to 3 and take less room on the screen.
-
I am surprised more people aren't asking for this. I would very much like this.
-
I agree! In the middle of battle its can get difficult to shift+1 and then use one or two attacks, and oops my teammate needs a heal, shift+4 and oh damn im focused, shift+3 equanity (whats the name again?)
Now I could have all of these on the same hotbar, maybe 2, but my fingers have learned where every ability is and it's gonna be tough to relearn all of my hotkeys

PVP abilitie are murder for PS3/PS4 players.
Maybe have a PVP crystal you can equip that creates a new set with specific hotbars for PVP?

The devs touched upon this in one of their "Letters to the Producer" not too long ago I believe. The main issue was storage space, particularly with the PS3/PS4, if I'm not mistaken. If you have hotbar sets for each and every job/class, then add on top of that an additional PvP hotbar set for each and every job/class, it can get messy development-wise and become a save issue. I'm not saying it's impossible, as the devs said it isn't, too, but they have to take some time to look into it, which I believe they're doing.
As a PC user who has all 10 hotbars on-screen always and still short on space, I'd love for something like this to be implemented as well. Then again, perhaps I need to manage my "space" a little better... X)

I agree. I don't know how many times I've forgotten to change out my abilities alternating between pve and pvp content.

Actually, josh, I was having exactly the same problem! I use the controller and use just my two cross hot-bars. There actually -is- a solution and I got it all set up today!
So, I'm assuming you still have the default hotbars shared, right? (4-8) Now, your class specific 4-8 "switching" hotbars don't actually disappear! They're just hidden under the shared ones, so they act like storage space for you.
Go to your character settings and unshare 4-8. Then create a macro with the following commands:
/crosshotbar copy [class] [crosshotbar#] [class] [crosshotbar#]
So, to start, just do this (if you're anything like me):
/crosshotbar copy SMN 1 SMN 8
/crosshotbar copy SMN 2 SMN 7
This'll get most of your abilities across to bar 8 without you having to touch a thing. Then edit both of those ability sets (bar 8 and 7) to your PVP liking. Use 6 and 5 similarly to make PvE sets.
Finally, use two different macros (PvE and PvP). Just mess with the above wording so that they copy 8 > 1 and 7 > 2 (or 6 > 1 and 5 > 2). Put them somewhere accessible and, voila, you're done! You have your very own switcher. By the way, make a macro for "Facetarget" while you're at it. That button is sooooo much more important in PvP, and is unavailable on a controller by default (you'll lose spells at the last second if people get behind you).
EDIT: Oh, yeah, lastly, cover up your handiwork by re-sharing those 4 cross hotbars (also so you don't inadvertently mess them up).
EDIT 2: If the above looks a bit weird, I enabled the extended bumper support (R2 > L2 specifically opens my R2 Set 2, L2 > R2 opens my L2 Set 2). So, I copy my stuff to sets 1 & 2.

As nice as it would be to have a separate PvP bar for things, I just ended up shoving every PvP skill onto its own separate hotkey, since they all have a godawful long CD anyway. Since even the worst offender has only 8 skills, they sit snugly on F/V, ShiftF/V, CtrlF/V and Ctrl+ShiftF/V Sure, that means I can't look in behind me with the V key... But when would I ever use that anyway?

I have one marco setup to swap in all of my PvP skills. Such as:
/hotbar action "Aetheric Burst" 1 9
The one macro to swap in all of my PvE skills. Such as:
/hotbar action "Quelling Strikes" 1 9
Note that this doesn't work with macros, but for macros, you can use the /hotbar copy command.
