new character
i am considering makin an alt since most action has essentially died down for the first one. i think i will be forming a static raid group with my fc soon, and we will be doing coils and ex primals, but i want something more than that. i could just level all the classes on my main, which im going for anyways, really, but it wont be fun because its just too easy.
any suggestions for a NA server, without lockouts? playing more than one character can be troublesome at times, but i feel like starting on a new world would be fun

Character creation restrictions are adjusted several times a day. Keep up with this webpage for when all servers are open/closed: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...06d0909189e479

i guess i should have been more specific, or worded it differently. from several other posts that i read, it seems that on the more populated servers, there can sometimes be a queue. i dont know if all worlds have a queue, or if its just the really popular ones.
-
Not sure, I wait for a server to be open and go make a character. I haven't bumped into any queues. But it has been a bit since I made (yet another) alt.
-
so, no queue times to worry about.
anybody have suggestions for a world?
-
Depends if you are looking for friendliness, endgame, rp, high pop, low pop, languages... etc.
-
im not sure how to check population, but i want something in the middle. im on jenova, which apparently has the lowest in the server. i am into endgame, run it several times a week. i would like for it to be a little more casual than i have been playing recently. english, of course. i believe i am on aether datacenter, but will check up on that when i get home. dont want to have to switch datacenters everytime i change characters.

In the housing part of the 2.3 patch notes they divided servers in three groups, probably based on active population.
=============================
Group A:
Aegis / Bahamut / Balmung / Behemoth / Cactuar / Carbuncle / Chocobo / Diabolos / Durandal / Excalibur / Fenrir / Garuda / Gilgamesh / Gungnir / Hyperion / Ifrit / Leviathan / Mandragora / Masamune / Midgardsormr / Odin / Ragnarok / Ramuh / Ridill / Sargatanas / Shiva / Siren / Tiamat / Titan / Tonberry / Ultros
Group B
Adamantoise / Alexander / Anima / Atomos / Cerberus / Coeurl / Exodus / Faerie / Goblin / Hades / Ixion / Kujata / Lamia / Malboro / Moogle / Pandaemonium / Phoenix / Typhon / Ultima / Valefor
Group C
Asura / Belias / Brynhildr / Famfrit / Jenova / Lich / Mateus / Shinryu / Unicorn / Yojimbo / Zalera / Zeromus / Zodiark
=============================
My suggestion? Go for a group A server, except for legacy servers and 2-3 more most group A servers aren't that crowded, but will have enough people to fill PF during most of the day.

Hyperion is a pretty big server and friendly, it never feels lonely there but it doesnt feel overcrowded. Creation often gets locked in peak hours, but I believe what's posted on the lodestone is only the server status at the time they update it. It can still be opening and closing in between that I think.
Pretty sure (aside from when ARR launched) I've only had a queue once which was shortly after 2.3 happened, but even then I barely had to wait a minute to get in.
I've got on alt on there, and I've made alts on other servers. Im always shocked when I go to other servers to see how empty it feels compared to Hyperion, I tend to only find people around the aetherytes in others but come to hyperion all the cities actually feel like cities and you'll run into at least a couple people out in the field.

well, went with coeurl, because siren wouldnt let me keep the same name. i like the list, really showed me where i wanted to go. something in the middle, so thank you for that.
